Start a vidya youtube channel

>start a vidya youtube channel
>actually get random views now and then (miracle)
>but according to analytics they just exit the video near the beginning
are my videos shit or do people just not care about channels with low subs/views?

the answer is both
low subs and views are an automatic turn off for people so you really need to impress within the first 5 seconds if you want to retain anybody's attention
hope you don't have a nasally voice and shit mic. that'll turn off people fast as fug

i have a good mic and my videos are all 1080p60fps so i think technical quality is fine
i have a very monotone/low energy voice though so maybe thats it?

what kind of vids do you make mostly

i just started uploading so i only have a couple videos
they are retrospectives/reviews, like 30-50 minutes long

>retrospectives
You don't deserve the few views you get.

Post more Gotes and I'll sub to your channel.

Yeah I'm not watching 30m of some rando's opinion. Gaurentee people stop watching so fast bc they see just how long it is

so i should just make short meme videos first so i can gain an audience?

Show voice

1. people are skeptical of low view videos because it's hard to tell from a glance if the video is low views because it's bad or just because nobody has found it yet
2. technology has given everyone ADHD so you probably didn't do enough within the first 30 seconds of the video to grab their attention
3. you don't know how to abuse the algorithms to artificially get your video at the top of the results page

>they are retrospectives/reviews
maybe you should have a better hook or mix in reviews of popular games so people can circle jerk in the comment section or even on a forum/subreddit.
also 30-50 might be a little too long.

No, but make a couple of shorter ones, or cut the longer ones up into shorter pieces.
Long reviews are "in" right now, but you need to get a core audience first.

Holy shit, cut them down to 5-7 minutes TOPS

how the hell did these nigs with 4 hour long videos get successful then
i really dont understand how youtube works lol

They got started early, often with some "hot" pr slightly "controversial" topic.

Who are you referring to? Name anyone you want, anyone with a 4-hour long video has any views either because they've done a lot of short ones and gathered a core audience who will watch anything by them, OR got lucky/turned into a meme and exploded by accident.

Make 5-7 min long videos and make them catchy if you want views. Otherwise, do your shtick and be content with your audience of 15 hardcore fans, like magicdweedoo or Saint.

I personally cant stand some random autist rambling on and on about video games.
think you should start with 15~20 min videos and see how things go from there.

yeah i get it now, nobody gives a shit what i say because im a literal who
so would short informative or short entertaining videos be the way to go?

You probably have a dull ass personality/voice and no opening hook. Think about the difference between the videos YOU personally watch and the ones you open, dismiss as boring trash or not worth your time.

I just keep making podcast-y type videos because they're fun with the slight hope that one day someone will stumble upon my shit and seek me out.
I don't even want money, I just want companionship

not op but pretty sure 12-15 minutes is a better length to aim for. at least over 10 minutes even if its a few seconds

get to the meat of what you're showing don't dawdle with 5 minutes of heyoo how's it goin my doodags ring duh bell and like comment and that stuff

>Think about the difference between the videos YOU personally watch and the ones you open, dismiss as boring trash or not worth your time.
I don't watch other youtubers because I find them cringe

>You probably have a dull ass personality/voice and no opening hook
Untrue, there are many "dull" sounding yet successful youtubers. Madseason off the top of my head has 300K+ subs

im definitely not in it for money either, i just find making videos fun

Find something that is slightly controversial and make an "objective" essay on it, split into a couple of parts.
Also, show voice already.

God 13 years later and I still want to fuck a goat.

Imo, anything goes, as long as it's short.
Don't necessarily abandon your theme of retrospective/review, just add something to it. Like, how would you condense your 50-min video into 5 mins?

>are my videos shit or do people just not care about channels with low subs/views?
unless you're showing gameplay for new or upcoming games games while keeping your mouth shut its pure garbage shit like the rest of youtube.

It's 99% the fact that you have low views and subs. It's an automatic turn off for the vast majority of viewers. They think that someone worth watching should have at least a couple thousand hits and/or subs.

FYI, there's companies you can hire to temporarily boost/inflate your views, subs and comments in order to draw in real viewers. I used it when I was starting out and it worked wonders. You still need to have a half decent voice/personality and skill at whatever you're playing though.

i mean technically, i could split it into several videos about specific topics
i just figured people like longer videos since i see a bunch of them get views

what kind of games do you cover? might be better if you focused on a genre or a series.

I really want to know whose videos you're referring to.

Also, condense, don't just split. If you're recording lots of stuff, take the chance and throw out most of it for the final cut. I'm just throwing out an idea, you can try other anons' suggestions too, it's your channel after all

You can either have dull personality or dull voice but never both.

Take a look at Raycevick channel, he's probably the most recommended "vidya retrospective essay" channel but he didn't start with hour long videos. Start slow with 10-15 minute long vids and save up your hour long for some game that was from a popular series but shat the bed

Your audience are zoomers with severe adhd

Alright OP. You can't start of with 30-50 min videos whenyou haven't built a fanbase and a name for yourself yet. Think of it like this: Watching a video its a commitment of someone's time. Would you commit 40 minutes of your day to listen to someone that you don't know and whose opinion you're not sure you can trust? Unless someone you trust directed you to it or its a topic you're extremely interested on its unlikely that you will.

So what you gotta do is to shorten it and chose topics that people would be interested on untill you've got an audience. 10 to 15 minutes is ideal. If you like to talk about some niche stuff then I suggest advertising on communitties, boards and forums for that niche.

Would you care to link your channel? You got me curious now, consider this a shilling well done
