Which one was better in your opinion, SSX Tricky or 3?
I'd say that Tricky has better aesthetic and rotation psychics, but 3 is more enjoyable overall.

Both were great but I had fonder memories of 3.
Tricky is the best one.
Tour because it had mario
Tricky was the best, but 3 has this fucking amazing song.
3 lets you punch a kid in the face while going at extreme speeds down and icy slope. I think Tour lets you do that too in the mini challenges.
Tricky has little flow though, which 3 excelled at. (though doing the same race 3 times is stupid)
I was hoping you had posted this

I have fonder memories of 3.
God I wishe we had unlockables and cheats like we used to, but they don't make em that way anymore :T
Personally for me I would say On Tour for the music and aesthetics
3 is mechanically better
2 is aesthetically better by miles. Both amazing games for completely different reasons
>I would say On Tour
.......
3 has the best mechanics and the open world is great. Tricky has better tracks and characters.
Oh yeah punk rock and mumble rap thats what I want in my arcade extreme sports game.
I played them both 100%. Tricky has a better multiplayer experience, but SSX3 has everything else.
3 > Tricky > SSX = On Tour
SSX 1 is underrated, it's one hell of a launch title. Tricky is basically SSX1.5 but that 0.5 has a ton of personality that the original lacked. 3 is a masterpiece, full-stop. On Tour was a solid game bogged down by a lack of true identity buried under a dozen licensing deals; doing MONSTER TRICKZ while flying over cans of Axe and whatever the newest Chevrolet truck was at the time while playing as Mario or Luigi and Iron Maiden is playing just isn't the SSX that the original 3 were, even if it was mechanically sound with solid course design.
Say what you will about SSX 2012, at the very least it ended the series on a decently high note. Imagine a world where the last SSX was Blur. Yes I played it. Yes it sucked dick.
If Tricky had the option to swap between Tricky's menu and 1's menu I'd probably never touch 1 again, but goddamn is 1 so great, and I know everyone hates 2012 but it has its moments
Yuck. Too poppy.
The slowdown on Monster Tricks was super annoying in On Tour
If u say anything other than tricky u are just retarded
2012 was so close to being great. Everything was their and the wing suits added a lot of fun. It just had such a lack of personality. Every map felt similar, every character looked the same, none of the maps had a sense of exploration, secret, or wonder. The nail in the coffin was the Uber Tricks, so bland and none of the tweaks made sense with the original grab, it was visually sad to look at the boring ubers over and over again. The environments were gorgeous though.
Also imagine if you could swing/throw yourself into a different rotation mid air using the wing suits, that would have been fucking insane.
The wingsuit kinda broke the race modes youtube.com
AND THE SIGN SAYS LONG-HAIRED FREAKY PEOPLE, NEED NOT APPLY-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y

Holy shit that map looks boring from an eagle eye view. Yeah, they really should have tightened up some reset walls in this game
It's not so much about resets, it's just that you could build up massive momentum with the wingsuit and it was better to just keep flying and touch the ground as little as possible

It was fun in its own way but it had pretty little to do with snowboarding. At some point they started having race events where the wingsuit was disabled
HANGALANGLANG ONNNN, WANT TO LET GO, SAVE YOUR SOUL, NOW GOT TO STAY STRONG

Also if you played as Kaori you now play Feng in DBD
Here's a good one too youtube.com
It was kinda interesting trying to find the best line and break the track boundaries as much as possible, but not very SSX-y
I remember that fucking map, its a headache without a wing suit.
I feel like you had to be really good at 2012 to really enjoy it, like a strict learning curve, at least compared to 3.
>but not very SSX-y
Pretty much. Puts it next to On Tour in my book: good, but not quite getting the point of the trilogy. Like was said above, at least it wasn't Blur.
I really miss SSX
If they make an SSX 4, the one thing I want them to retain from 2012 is the custom soundtracks feature. It was brilliant. I also don't trust EA to make a good soundtrack any more.
John morgan left so I don't have any hope, I know they stealth slapped an SSX track in mass effect but they won't ever do anything again
They tried as much as they could. The director was actually a pretty cool dude, he was a huge Tony Hawk and SSX fan. After the game released, he started posting on an SSX fan site and talking with us about it. He said they had tried to pitch a new SSX game several times, but it didn't get greenlit until they came up with the survival gimmick and real mountain scannig, because it needed to have something new and the whole grimdark phase was still kinda strong during that time period
Although, I would say the game felt maybe a bit too much like Tony Hawk in some ways, as far as the trick events go. Very spammy, there were basically two tricks that gave the most points. And you didn't get a repeat penalty as long as you did one different trick before repeating the first one, so you were basically just spamming the same two tricks and front flips for the whole run. There were also no checkpoints or time restrictions, just the invisible timer that would drain your combo meter if you moved forward too slow. So you just kept zigzagging down the tracks jumping off every little wall and ramp you could find. There was not really a similar finesse compared to the old games, in those you could only do a trick once per run, so you always needed to keep track of what tricks and rotations you had done
I remember when it seemed like it had been a really long time since the previous SSX, when the last game was Blur. But in retrospect it had been only four or five years. Now it's been eight years since the 2012 game came out. I still remember going out to buy a PS3 and that game on launch day. No idea how eight years have gone so fast
Why did they introduce so many new characters in Tricky only to dump most of them in the following games?
