What happens when you drop a hula hoop over a box? It's A.

It's A. The box has no momentum.

Doesn't GlaDOS tell you about something similar?
>In Layman's terms SPEEDY THING GO IN SPEEDY THING GO OUT
The cube isn't going speedy so I'd reckon it'd be A right?

This is a blast from the past, and like all good bait images, it works because the question is stupid. The only thing this demonstrates is that portals are impossible.

Yes.

It's B you idiots, because the orange portal is going fast
B GAANNGGG, WHERE YOU AT?!?

>The only thing this demonstrates is that portals are impossible.
Wormholes exist.

It was shown to be b my physicists.

My understanding of source engine says A
My understanding of real physics says that this kind of situation is impossible

The "world" around it does though.

Everyone who thinks this is A should just jump off a building as the concrete all the way down there has no momentum, thus is completely harmless.

a = boring
b = fun
so its b because games have to be fun.

Just clocked Portal and Portal 2 again yesterday.
Quite good games.
I think it's somewhere between the two of those.

Theoretically
And real wormholes wouldn't look like a 2D plane, they'd be a 3D sphereoid

fpbp, anyone that says otherwise is shitposting

I like your thinking

Thanks, Donnie Darko.

>games have to be fun.
you just crawl out from under a rock?

B-B-B-B-BASED B-CHAD HERE TO DA(B) ON ALL THE A-SHITTERS

Glados says it herself.
>Speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out.
Tells you that only the object going through the Portal will maintain its momentum. In the diagram, the cube has no momentum.
>"You appear to understand how a portal affects forward momentum; or to be more precise how it does not.
Portals do not have any influence on momentum.

The answer is A.

Asked this to my little brother, he said B. Is he a retard?

Yeah, it violates the 1st law of thermodynamics, so neither

nice one bro, real good answer.

neither

A.
It will appear at the speed the orange ring dictates as the newly arriving mass displaces what's already come through the portal, but inertia stops it from flying away because there's no force applied to it externally.

Didn't someone actually test this and it just glitched and refused to go through the portal?

portals can't be placed on physics objects

youtube.com/watch?v=JHe-iU63nmE
Yeah.

The thing A fags don't understand is that even if for any reason they were to be right and the relative speed of the portal didn't mean shit for the cube itself, the mere act of "emerging" on the other side would have the cube moving at the same exact speed it's getting "covered" by the moving portal. Which means that when the cube "pops" out completely, it's in the middle of moving at a high speed and a lot of energy will be required for it to abruptly stop. As there's nothing interacting with the cube after it "pops" out, there is nothing to provide that energy and stop it, therefore it will fly out by the sheer force of inertia.

What happens when you drop a hula hoop over a box when the world is only moving on one side of it?
Like it or not, this puzzle has no definitive answers, because portals (especially when they're moving in relative to each other) aren't in the same frame of reference and therefore don't abide by our laws of physics. The best answer you can possibly have is just "depends what the laws of physics are in the context of the game".

the orange portal dissapears

WHAT IS RELATIVITY GUYS I AM NOT GOOD AT PHYSICS

>What happens when you drop a hula hoop over a box?
the hula hoop lands on the ground and box stays still, next questions. A hard one, please.

Is he gonna be OK?
