Yeah, they've tested 100 most popular games and said almost all are working, so at launch it's not gonna be 100% compatible

Including one that worked all the way back to PS1, yes. They are all vastly different machines.
They could probably do it (and in fact did with the slimline PS2), but they seem to have deemed it not worth the effort.

Honestly I just wanted it to have ps2 support, ps3 and 4 didnt have any games worth supporting but ps2 had a lot of great games.
