TRIARIIII
TRIARIIII
CRETIAN ARCHERS
What's wrong with those Seaguard? Are they sick?
PRINCIPES!
HASTATI!
SELEUCID CATAPHRACTS WITH +1 WEAPON UPGRADE BUT STOCK ARMOR
>tfw first discovering as a kid that the AI doesn't improve with higher difficulty, it just gets more bonuses
>decades later
>still havent found a better solution than lol AI cheat
HOPLITES
FORM PHALANX
why didnt Crassus just form a wall at the edge of the map? Works for me in total war all the time.
they tried but the cavalry reached them before they were on the edge of the map, at least the troops that routed were saved instantly
GODS I HATE GAUL
*incoherent screeching*
Anyone else made custom battles with a single fully upgraded berserker versus a full stack of peasants?
I did berserkers vs war elephants
that along with when I was finally able to comprehend that the Civilization AI wasn't actually negotiating with me in diplomacy or really pursuing any goals were major "santa isn't real" moments
People should know when they're conquered.
Would you, Quintus?
DESTROY THEM!
sometimes they just need a good show of force
i really hope to see the day AI will actually be smart
people say that maybe in 5 to 10 more years, but who knows
>hard is too easy
>very hard breaks diplomacy
>legendary is tedious, annoying, and a test of how well you can cheese the AI rather than a fun challenge
rome 2 has a co-op campaign if anyone of you guys is down for it
Hastatii were my workhorse. I could field so many of them that their pilums would wreck any units or bog down cavalry where it didn't make a difference if I had dedicated spear units or not.
What does Civ AI do? I never played those games
Latest games have subtle actual AI increases. 3chinkdom is the best example. If you play on easy the AI will happily waste all their ammo on your generals and miss 99% of their shots. If you play on on higher difficulties they save their ammo for units have enough volume to get hit by most arrows. Another example is they will try to actually flank with high level while low level will sometimes just frontal charge spears with their cav. It's getting better, not quite great and they still need lots of cheats but they're making progress.
in rome 2, even in normal the AI will always try to flank, specially with cavalry, though its quite easy to trick into stupid mistakes
Think TWWH2 really improved the AI, you even have skirmishers and artillery being used correctly. I hope they keep it up and make the third installment something of a revolution in their game design.
>rome 2
rome 3 will be astonishingly good.
for someone who usually just turns off hud to watch battles, yes i prefer it.
The battle AI is fine. It's the campaign AI that's just retarded.
lol they will keep milking fantasy forever. Enjoy your shitty sagas.
