Was VTMB the first game that had based leftist politics?
Was VTMB the first game that had based leftist politics?
VTMB had garbage writing and was only redeemed by its relatively content-rich hub-structured immersive sim niche. The politics of the game were the same Maher-tier garbage of Fallout 2.
>hurr durr Republicans bad
>hurr durr Bob Dole jokes
The last time leftists were based was probably circa Tito, and I'm pretty sure there are no Tito-era Yugoslavian video games
VTMB walked so that Disco Elysium could run
Stop posting your shit thread op
Disco Elysium at least revels in its politics to a degree of obvious self-awareness. For example, Cindy, the token antifa-esque fight-the-power grrl, is presented as a try-hard who is consciously self-aware of what she is, with a touch of genuine struggle in her life to motivate it. By contrast, Damsel and most of the rest of the Anarchs are nothing more than gothed-up power-fantasy heroes of social justice straight out of a Bad Religion song.
The Troika guys have always been terrible writers.
>they made fun of my guy!
>but whenever they made fun of the other guy they were just pandering to look unbiased
Two party system drones in a nutshell. Fuck your life must be miserable.
>we don't need law
>we'd follow those rules anyway
>but them being the law is problematic
>it's not like we don't want those rules being enforced because qe don't want to follow them
>we're good bois I swear
???
They have a problem with the prince giving orders just for his own benefit like he does to you the entire game. They enforce the masquerade in their own domains brainlet
They literally said they don't want Camarilla to be enforced at all because they're such good bois that they would act it anyway
sounds more like the anarchs are vampire libertarians
You don’t seem to understand anarchism
But I do understand it. Anarchism is all about wanting to be able to act like a nigger without fear of consequences
Anarchism is about a community having equal collective responsibility and consensus decision making. They already decided to uphold the masquerade in their domains. Domains the prince doesn't have control over.
>You don’t seem to understand anarchism
>belief in the abolition of all government and the organization of society on a voluntary, cooperative basis without recourse to force or compulsion.
No rules. we cave man niggas.
>Anarchism is about a community having equal collective responsibility and consensus decision making.
No, that's a false and poor excuse for demanding an ability to act like a nigger without fear of consequences.
Also that one bitch in Anarchs is a murderous psycho whore who can't say a single sentence without mentioning her desire to murder everyone who disagrees with her. In other words, she's a communist.
So they don't uphold the masquerade in the domains they control?
It was fine since the game let you choose to agree with and support him, or call him an idiot and completely ignore him. I think for 2 though they said they're taking a definite political stance, not sure what that means exactly but if they won't let you disagree with their personal views it's going to suck. 2 is probably going to suck anyway and the worst thing is it's almost impossible to have a decent VtMB thread anymore because of it.
That's right. Jack didn't uphold Camarilla on the ship, he took the mummy to a public place at the end of the game, in one ending the Anarchs strapped LaCroix to the top of the tower for him to burn in the sunlight for everyone to see
>Tito
>based
lmao
imagine getting cranky at fallout 2 of all games
jesus man take a break
> in one ending the Anarchs strapped LaCroix to the top of the tower for him to burn in the sunlight for everyone to see
Based anarchs
All of those old RPGs were kinda left-leaning.
Doughy software nerds aren't exactly the gun, gods and country types.
Notice how it's always one negative quality and a certain kind of people, except for "rich business", where you would have to take "rich" as the negative quality.
If it isn't a mental illness, I don't know what is.
In context he's a vampire from the Great Depression or something.
Yeah, so much for the good bois upholding the Masquerade
Yes, but he could have described businessmen who are "bad" with a different, actually negative word. "Greedy businessmen", "opulent businessmen", you know what I mean. Those would be all in-character, and not imply that just being "rich" is, in itself, something wrong.
Richness is wrong to leftists unless it is their richness
Didn't the anarchs send you to hunt down Andrei and destroy the tape he made? They seem pretty focused on protecting the masquerade
Only when it's someone else breaking it
I suppose. It's hard to differentiate where legitimate Troika sympathies end and "Troika taking the piss out of the universe" starts.
It's a rich businessman Anarch who runs Hollywood proper, after all, and has all visiting Camarilla kiss up to him perfectly fine. The power struggle is portrayed as ridiculously petty and two-faced from the start. Nines is borderline a parody of your moderately brainless, hyper-charismatic prettyboy renegade.
The only parody is Damsel. The game goes out of its way to show Nines as heroic and badass
I think people overestimate Troika writers' ability. They made shitty caricatures of characters so fans assume it was a parody. I think it was an honest attempt at promoting their beliefs that backfired
how dare you call me doughy, user
Maybe. This is the same Troika that put a word for word copy of the fucking Jewish Question in Arcanum.
It's hard to tell.
He slums it out in a bar throwing his spiel at anyone who enters.
Might just be my own sympathies, I just found the downtown Anarchs to be a thinly-veiled laughing stock with only Jack portrayed as knowing shit.
Jack was the worst character of all. Damsel was at least a murderous murderous, Jack was shitty "le ebin man who don't give a shit about anything and just wanta to have a giggle". If there is a cliche that should be criminalized, it's this one
Murderous sociopath*
I think it's fair to say that Jack was definitely some writer's self-insert at the studio.
I like it on the meta-level of laughing at White Wolf's writing, even if ingame the character is garbage and covered in more plot armour than LaCroix.
I don't think the main writer of the game has your same sympathies since he dresses like he would hang out with Nines
What a fat fuck.
What an unfortunate stature.
