The Outer Worlds is Private Division's most succesful title

significantly exceeded their expectations - 2.5 million copies sold

i played an hour of it, got off the first planet, saved, completely forgot it existed

This appears to be a very common case, I wonder why?

downloaded it about a week ago with the game pass
but I cant bring myself to play it

Solely off of New Vegas reputation imo

It's almost like people had hopes and expectations going in...

I finished the game on gamepass and fuck no it doesn't deserve 60 dollar price tag.

>developers of New Vegas
>they didn't let Josh Sawyer work on it

Games kinda dull, and the companions are forgettable and feel like token diversity characters. There isn't really anything to hook onto and be interested and excited for in game.

I'm surprised too. That shit was so bland

i finished the game

it sucked

i pirated it

>finish the first planet, think it's small because it's the first level
>combat area on the market ship is literally one room
>other planets are just as small as the first
It should have been a crpg, it's pathetically tiny

Zig Forums keep seething that's a good game sold well

Outer worlds was bad, but at least it means that they will be making more New Vegas like rpgs now and not isometric rpgs no one plays. We might get our true new vegas successor soon.

This doesn't include Gamepass downloads, this is just units sold.

>Good game
That's a proof that marketing people are worth their weight in gold

Pretty shit expectations. No wonder Obsidian sold out.

2.5 mill is pathetic. At least 100mill own a ps4. Billions own a pc

>hear really really good shit about this new space game with Outer or something in the name
>i buy the Outer Worlds
>play for 40 minutes
>realise this is not the game which everyone is talking about
>refund and get the good game

The Outer Worlds is not a bad game, they just didn't have enough time to really finish it. The world is fantastic, and the first planet is as good as New Vegas in terms of characters, quests, etc. It's the rest of the game that feels underdeveloped in comparison. Hopefully its success means they will get the time and money to make another one the way they want it.

When is the the story DLC/ expansion coming out?

> poe2 sold 1/3 of TOW

I would like to see how many people actually played after an hour or so

this was easily the most mediocre game I have ever played

false advertising, the people behind new vegas did not work on this game, they are probably long gone.

Their previous game deadfire sold handful of copies and they had to crowdfund it lol. It's a massive success for them. Even for AAA games 2.5million copies sold is quite a lot and it was an AA game.

Good. Josh Sawyer, instead of making some niche shit for neckbeards, will be forced to inject his gun autism into their next fps rpg. Can't wait for 6 different ammo types.

We only need 2 dlc's:
-The ballads of Captain Hawthorne
-The Earth

2.5m sales
money from EGS
money from MS/gamepass

this private division looks like a smart bunch

It doesnt say "from the team that brought you"
It says developer and technically it is the same developer.

games only need to sell enough to make money to be considered successful not some number you made up in your head

he's making a super niche small project with a team of 5

janitors are an important part of development too

Nope. They still have some people from interplay/New Vegas team. Tim Cain is there (worked on fallout 1 and 2), Josh Sawyer (New Vegas, fallout 2, although for some reason they didn't have him on board for TOW), Leonard boyarsky (fallout 1, probably New Vegas) and few others.

The Outer Goblinos is really difficult to play through. The characters are just so hard on the eyes and ears. The females are all butch with extremely short hair, terrible skin, and very husky voices. And throughout the game is a tone of anti-male, anti-white, anti-religious, anti-capitalist far-leftist preaching that is absolutely relentless.

The missions are short and dull. There is not a single thing about this game that you haven't already played a million times in dozens of other similar games. The written dialog is so amateur it's cringe worthy. The spoken dialog is just bad. It's almost as if they hired a handful of voice actors and asked them to modulate their voices to voice several different but similar characters. The husky female voices are just hard to listen to. And the characters are just so ugly.

>Behold! The female NPC's of The Outer Goblinos. Yes, user, every NPC in this image is a female NPC. Yes, really.

>Generic retro-future setting which makes zero sense in context

>generic "corporations bad" story

>No incentive in the story, didn't have an actual goal

>reddit/MCU humor

>Everyone speaks like East Coast college faggots "like like like like like like" you can tell it was written by insecure women

>Shit perks

>No actual choices or consequences

>handholding to the max

>shit loot

>conpanions are terrible

The coulour palette is kind of cool I guess it lokos great at Night, proper space-faring vibes but you never even get to really do that

this
People who make isometric rpgs should look to modernize the gameplay loop. Ditch real time combat for turn based combat. I'm pretty sure modernization was the reason why DOS 2 sold so well.
