The appeal of the Witcher game is in part because there is an established cast of characters from the book who are already well developed and play off each other well. Quest design in these games tend to be really good, with multiple outcomes on a lot of them with effects later on in the game, the game often gives you choices to moral dilemmas where neither choice is really better than the other one. The combat is not great but all of these games have excellent bestiaries (Witchers are career monster hunters/curse breakers) and the emphasis on exploiting each monster's weaknesses makes up for the eurojank. If you do get 3, make sure to get the two DLC expansion packs as they're the high point of the series and address a lot of the issues in the base game.

If the meat and bones of the game is the same recycled mechanics from other games, what exactly makes it better than souls of TES outside of a subjective preference for the lore or developer? I mean you can claim the story and characters and quests are better, but so can fans of any other game. I mean it’s not a terrible game, I see why people like it, for an average open world action game it is one of the better made ones, but I didn’t think it was phenomenally unique like so many people pretend it is.

The only fight I remember being unique in TW3 is the last one with that vampire guy in the dlc. The last boss of the vanilla game was as generic and boring as it gets. Anyways, you act like I’m some crusader for DaS, I generally just don’t find run of the mill AAA action games that appealing.
