Is game piracy about getting free games or getting justice for an industry that treats you like shit?

The former. Also loling at paycucks. And loling at spics and SEA monkeys who can't even pirate propery.

SEA don't even need a VPN to torrent

Personally I do pay for small budget games, and they can be pretty cheap. I bought Pathologic for 2 bucks, and it was worth it. I however don't see why I should pay for most AAA titles that come out. You're throwing dosh at billionaires that spend their careers discussing how best to fuck you up the ass.

I don't give a fuck. If EA can sell gambling to children I can copy games for free, nothing personal

A bit of both, depends on the devs and publisher. I'll happily pay a reasonable price for a good game from a dev I respect.

But let me guess: it doesn't take a lot for a dev to lose your respect, right?

It's about free games retard.
People have always pirated games.

People come up with justifications for why they do.

People have been pirating games way before the industry was overrun by pricks. Why, i used to pirate games on cassette tapes using my brother's ghetto blaster and the computer's tape drive!

>The industry doesn't make good things

>Let me steal and enjoy the bad things I totally hate and don't want

Contortions

I use it as a "try before you buy". Which kind of falls into the second one, since it's a preventive action considering the state of the industry.
I do buy what I enjoy, even if I don't replay the non-pirated copy.

This bullshit is why I pirate

Yet they can't copy over a crack.

My only justification is capitalism. If publishers can set up fake companies in tax havens to scam government out of money, I can scam them out of money by copying their game.
>b-b-b-but that's illegal
Tax havens are also illegal. But only if you're caught.

I pirate games on dead consoles that I have no intention of looking for. N64 GameCube. SNES. Etc. if it’s on a console I have. I’ll purchase it. I’m single and have money to spare. First I see if my friends have it so I can borrow it

user, if one could return a bad game after playing it and discovering it was bad this would not be an issue. How is one to know if the industry started to make good things again, with out playing what the industry makes?

No actually I think it would take quite a lot. I'm not an autist who freaks out about minor localisation issues for example. Lootboxes in a single player game, egregious pandering, those are the sorts of things that will stop me buying a game. But most often it's more about the game being good than respect for the devs. Many games are not worth their asking price.

>I have money to spare
Such a retarded excuse. You don't know what the economy will be like in 20-30 years. Maybe you'll be barely scraping by after this current financial shitshow ends. And yet instead of saving money for that day you're wasting it. It won't end well.

That doesn’t hold water given how much shitting people do in the leadup to release. People deem games to be crap long before they actually release but then still play them after they’re cracked.

A bit of column A, a bit of column B. If your game is retardedly locked to the chinkware store, it's getting pirated if I want to play it. I pirate most indie titles that I play, then if I enjoy it, I buy a copy legit. But also I pirate all of Todd's games because fuck todd howard

what gender is that anime

Both?

If I can easily get a legal copy I'll do it, my time is worth more than my money
But when it comes to shit like old ROMs or obscure, out of print games, I'm not wasting my time trying to track down a copy from some collector faggot and them profiting off the developer's work

People can come with their own justifications, and I'm okay with that. I'm not one of those "if you justify piracy, you're a faggot" types. For me, I basically go with three rules:
>does the developer consider the game to be supported? (hint: Nintendo does not care about games that aren't part of Wii U, Switch, or 3DS...searching, say "zelda minish" at Nintendo's site turns up nothing)
>is it still sold and does it have a modern digital release?
>can it run on a modern system without emulation?

Lastly...
>did I or a family member purchase this game in some form in the past?

In regards to the latter, I've been "pirating" content that I bought on Steam previously.

both

>Is the game Indie? don't pay for it
>Is the same SP or from a AAA dev? Why pay for it?
>Are the devs or publishers moneygrabbing cunts? don't pay for it.

This would be less of a problem if people actually still did a proper demo download. Your choices are buy it to see if you like it or pirate it to see if you like it and by the time you've done the latter, well.. you already have it.

Honestly at this point I pirate for convenience
There's so many hoops to just fucking play a game these days. If something doesn't work, I just trash it instead of getting fucking pissed I spent time buying it, installing it, creating stupid secondary accounts on shitty services nobody wants or needs, and then wasting time looking for solutions because shit that should just work stutters weirdly, disconnects me from server every 5 minutes or just doesn't even want to start because retarded DRM won't let it.
I've actually experienced cases where I first pirated a game and enjoyed it, but since it got nice updates or content, perhaps multiplayer, I buy it. And then I have problems with the fucking piece of shit when pirated worked flawlessly.

This, mostly because of the DLC. If I buy a "full" game and end up tricked with new unannounced DLC, I feel ripped off, if I pirate that game I feel okay

it's about getting free games. I don't care about the industry getting worse. Go ahead and make every upcoming game a live service with kernel anti-cheat.
It would lessen piracy of the title but it wouldn't make me buy it either.

>I have better hobbies to nurture than this shitshow.

That’s you.

>thinking I'm anything more than a loser virgin who only browses Zig Forums and masterbates all day
You overestimate me, user.

I pirate only the following games
>All AAA games
>All Epic exclusive games
>All Sega games
>All Nintendo rehash games
>Any game with a female protagonist
>Any game with a nigger protagonist
>Any game with a tranny in it at all
>Any game involving Randy pitchforks
>Any game involving Cliff Belincuck
>Any game involving Peter Molyneux
>Any game Troy Baker is doing voice work for
>Any game with a day one 20+ Gb patch
>Any game with lootboxes
