On a completed unrelated note, can someone tell me how FFIX is? I bought it on the switch about a year ago cuz it was on sale but never really got into it. Was wondering if it’s worth it.

So the final fantasy sub on reddit absolutely adores it, personally I liked it but it had a lot of problems. The battles are painfully slow, I used the speed up in the remaster a lot to combat this. It has a very slow first half of the game which filters a lot of people. You have to play chocobo hot and cold minigame to get the best items which not everyone enjoys but I found it far more enjoyable than the grind in 10.

So yea, not my favorite, liked it better than x

IX is much worse.
The main problem with X is the unskippable cutscenes.

I like it, the base combat is my favorite turn based system in any JRPG.
I'm playing 7 for the first time and I think I overall like that more. Dropped 9 on the Vita because it's so fucking slow, but I'll try it again on Switch when 7 is done

i was a huge ff fan, getting all the versions and completeing all the side quests and whatnot. then came ffx. i didn't finish it and never picked the series up again.

I understand it completely. It was the first FF with voice acting and so they had no idea how to do it properly and ended up with horrible voice acting. The same is true for the Japanese dub. You're just a retard blinded by nostalgia.

We really can't. It's one of the best turn based RPGs out there. The story is okay, hit or miss on some parts, but if they expanded on this combat system we would be having pure kino RPGs right now.

The only, sole good thing about FFX is the combat. And it’s not enough to excuse the rest of it and Dragonquest does it better.

FF in general is a shit series. One of the most soulless, poorly written and generic japanese game series I've ever played. Doesn't help that the character designs are gay as fuck and attract fujos.

The abilities being tied to armor was easily the best ability gain system final fantasy has done in my opinion. But to each his own. Also, in your specific scenario that doesn’t actually happen the firaga staff only idiots don’t use spells on magic characters
