I was amazed by the dedicated jump button they showed off in TLOU2. So incredibly innovative. Apparently an awesome little indie dev already implemented this feature back in 1985! Amazing!

More exciting than anything else? Talk about low fuckin standards, jesus...

Shit like wind blowing you in the direction of the objective is no different from waypoint markers. The best way for a game to do open world exploration is for it to tell you where to go and give you actual directions, like Gothic 1 and 2.

You can climb along the underside of the bridge at the start of Bob-Omb's Battlefield.

Manchildren found out they weren't really good at anything and made a job out of something that used to be a fun hobby.

pretty sure he is referring to game journalism, not e-sports or speedrunning.

I thought Metro had an objective compass

In Spyro 2 (and probably the others, I don't remember) if you hold down all the triggers, Sparx points to the nearest gems. I never not 100% 2 when I play it so its pretty handy but I only found out about it after I 100%'d it enough times for it to be useless to me

Game journalists are failed real journalists, it's why they're awful at and hate playing videogames.

no, you are talking about failed journalism students at best.

Capitalism, pretty much. People gotta find a way to keep a roof over their heads and feed themselves. If they have to degrade themselves into producing homogenized bs with no critical thought so the largest audience possible will give them views and revenue, then so be it.

>OP makes a game journo thread
>socialismfag can't help but shit it up even more

every fucking time

If you want good journalism, your best bet is to find individual creators who
1) Have journalism experience outside of autism hobbies
2) Actually put the effort in to pound pavement and actually find primary sources to talk about their topic.

Ex: Jim Sterling is not a journalist, nor are most people puttering around Polygon or Kotaku (Save for a handful of examples, like, say Jason Schrier, who actually does something besides talking about petty bs tabloid shit)

Except these sites are all failing because no one falls for their shit any more. The only way some survive is on state funding.

user is right though

capitalism will ultimately take whatever it can and turn it into an investment vehicle

He's not wrong.

>i want game be big and graphic good
>WHY THE FUCK DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE AN INDUSTRY
Pick a lane, third world faggot.

It's the literal opposite. Without government interference and funding these unprofitable media corporations would have gone away long ago.

To add to that, the smoke of the flame is also always heading towards the direction of the objective. It's explained in one of the several tips on the pauze screen.

Do you actually think the state cares about keeping Polygon or whatever afloat?

you brainlets conflate markets, trade, wealth creation, productivity, unemployment, social services & lack thereof, as 'muh capitalism'. you're too retarded to realize you're retarded

Yes. It's called propaganda and the CIA have been playing at it for decades.

rent free

So wind replaces the massive arrow? These people are retarded, the fundamental problem with glowing psychic goal remains. Couldn't they make a more concise world with landmarks we orientate with, you know like the real world?

Open world design and its consequences has been a disaster for the gaming industry.

Propaganda for what?

Except that's the case with all journalistic stuff these days. Because all the ad revenue ran away from hard news in favor schlock and Bait titles. To make money, most companies these days opt in favor of more schlocky stories which give them lots of clicks, or paywalls - You're often much better off keeping tabs on individual professionals you like that work in your area of interest, and keep tabs on where they go and what articles they do.

Journalism used to be a bigass industry which had the ability to pay press to put their feet on the ground in foreign areas to report more effectively, and very slowly, as the revenue went down, they had to lay people off, turn towards paying unprofessional schmucks for photos, etc.

People gotta make money to live.

>and has done
God I fucking hate how people in the UK just fucking butcher the English language into a fucking disgusting disaster. Fuck you.

Social justice

Exactly. And instead they cut deals, treat their reporters like shit, and other scummy shit to keep going until they gotta cut losses. Or they resort to paywalls

lmfao cope

botw does this as well. which is kind of laughable. side quests and shrine quests have no markers, better listen to what npcs say, check the locations of rivers/mountains on your map and explore. It's pretty nice frankly.

user, do you really think the elites want social justice?

>TOP 10 REASON WHY WHITE PEOPLE SHOULD BE GENOCIDED
Gee I wonder.

Or they cut terrible deals with folks that make them profitable. Fox News' been doing it for a while, where they force cable companies to pay more to have the privilege of having their network on a cable companies channels.

No, they want "social justice"
My god you're dumb as hell.
