It just didn’t have the same amount of Soul as DOOM’16
Just finished my first playthrough on nightmare - found it a lot harder than 2016 and the unmaykr was a total waste of time.
I liked it on the whole though, but the most of the story was dull and pretty forced, and khan maykr was a better boss than icon of sin.
Soundtrack was totally forgettable compared to '16 as well.

Now this is a fucking shitpost
Denuvo anti Cheat
They played into the memes and the fanbases perception of Doomguy too much. Also enemies just straight up do too much damage and fodder should be easier to stun for a glory kill. Good game tho
The story was kind of bad in some places and it feels more like a series of unrelated levels than an ongoing adventure, and that's it really.
Post one good combat theme from Eternal
Meathook
I genuinely don't find it that great, '16s music also relied on punchy riffs and the like, but I found it a lot more dynamic than eternal's.
The only particular standout ones for me from eternal were the ones with the chanting
-Zenimax being afraid that consumer protection laws would allow customers to refund pre-orders if the OST wasn't finished by the time of release
-Mick Gordon underestimating the work that would go to producing the OST, resulting in an incomplete, low-quality version being released instead
-Marketing department being given creative say in the making of aspects of the game
-Update adding additional third-party software in a way that literally breaks the law in the EU
LOW AMMO LOW AMMO LOW AMMO
They're removing it
uh
UH
BFG DIVISION
The blade attachment makes melee feel weaker and less painful. Instead of replacing 2016's melee, they should have added to it. I mean fuck, what even is the reason behind removing wall-kills? Are some absolute control purists afraid that their character will take an extra step forward to flatten an imp's face with their boot?
Where do they go from here?
making your normal melee super weak
those gay audio logs where the scientist lady is in awe of the slayer and calling him a god were so fucking lame
centering on platforming and exploration but giving you a revealed map so there arent any real secrets
while the maps were gorgeous, i kept getting frustrated trying to jump onto or move to a spot that looked easily accessible only to run into an invisible wall
the absolute disruption of gameplay that marauders bring
while offering you all these weapon options, the game forces you to use every weapon during combat instead of letting you fight with your favorite gun
it would have been nice to fight alongside normal humans to really drive home the idea that you are the savior of humanity
the shifts in tone throughout the story kinda sullied the experience compared to doom 16's one-note rampage
I still really liked it though
>the absolute disruption of gameplay that marauders bring
I don't mind them, but I don't like that they actively railroad you into fighting them in a specific way instead of having the shotgun/ballista timing dance be one option. Actually I don't like the devs trying to make you use one weapon against an enemy type.
Also it's a cyberdemon, not a tyrant wtf

I'll give you 2016 was slightly more varied maybe and had a heavier impact on horror atmosphere. One thing though is eternal is much heavier and a little faster. Considering how different the mood and game play is between the two games the two fit respectively.
Imagine getting this far in life not knowing what a period is.
>Marauder slowing the pace of fights down
>Unavoidable purple goo slowing you to a crawl
>Misleading invisible walls in some areas
>Melee is incredibly weak without blood punch
>I don't really care for the story and this one is more lore focused
Not much to complain about really, probably one of my favourite single player FPS games now with the fast paced combat, would've liked to have maybe seen 2016 multiplayer without loadouts and have a traditional arena shooter but that would just be icing on the cake.
BETHESDA AND ZENIMAX ARE CHINESE-ISRAELI PUPPETS THAT WANT TO KILL AMERICA
Denuvo is a Chinese supported South African root kit that will be used to initate a massive cyberattack once the US and China go to war
I'm serious isn't kinda strange how Denuvo who is owned by Irdeto, which had the first government approved DRM in China, which is in turn owned by Naspers a South African media conglomerate which owns 31% of Tencent shares would release an anticheat with that is pretty much just a rootkit?
Get out of here pain elemental! I'm pooping.
I'm not crazy
China is using Africa as a staging ground for a massive export site to increase their global influence and monopoly on production
They will use chinese software like tik tok or chinese funded software like Denuvo anti cheat to initiate a massive cyber attack in the US and will steal crypto, drain american's bank account information, delete files of Chinese spies, and will turn every pc and phone into a zombie and will cause a massive DDos attack to cut off communications nationwide among the population in order to make an invasion easier
>this far in life
he's 12, likely.
Marauder
Lack of ammunition
Shitty platforming
Lack of imagination in level design
Way too many abilities
beats everything from '16
Is that you trying to think of good songs from 2016?
Hardly fucking anything. It was a damn good game.
Color coded enemy mechanics for fisher price kids.
The only thing wrong about it has nothing to do with the game itself: it's the Mick Gordon fiasco & the Denuvo fiasco
This
Denuvo anti cheat is a Israeli-Chinese plot to launch a massive cyber attack in the US
Doom Hunter boss music was better than anything in 2016.
>while offering you all these weapon options, the game forces you to use every weapon during combat instead of letting you fight with your favorite gun
I liked this, because it forced you to actually make good use of all your weapons and get used to them.
Nothing worse than an fps where 75% of the weapons are redundant by the late game
the only people i''ve heard that prefer 2016 to eternal are journos that cheesed all of 2016 with nothing but the super shotgun
I can agree somewhat, I definitely love the more serious and baseline tone of 16. But Eternal is just more fun in terms of being a videogame. Too bad Bethesda fumbled the ball at the 10 yard line (purposely). Is it too late to refund? Got it at full price, would like to buy again when on sale after they sort this denuvo bs out.
>while offering you all these weapon options, the game forces you to use every weapon during combat instead of letting you fight with your favorite gun
This is literally the best shit they had done with the game and basically fixes the old classic FPS problem, where they gave you multiple weapons but most player will only use 1 weapon. Every weapons in Eternal are equally useful from each other. I do admit that giving more than 24 shotgun shells couldn't hurt.
>eternal is much heavier
Only in the way that it's less dynamic so is just heavy repetitions constantly with little change in tempo or volume.
'16 got just as heavy if not more so, but actually built up to it
