Post how you would think a 3D kirby game would work.
How would a 3D kirby game work?
It wouldn't.
They would have to make the cone for swallowing enemies bigger to compensate for lack of vision. Also, use a high angle camera 90% of the time. idk
Twin-stick shooter controls.
Just make a sequel to Kirby's Dream Course
the on-foot controls in airride felt pretty good, i can't imagine that you couldn't make that work as a full game. just give kirby a lock-on so you can actually attack properly
Wouldn't be that hard
Increase the number of enemies and make them harder to kill and more mobile
Abundance of flying enemies or some system to penalize overflying
More doable than a proper 3d Sonic game for sure
Baby DMC. Instead of weapon switching, its power swapping. Inhaling and copying enemies is part of combos.
I can easily imagine it working similar to the first three Spyro games. Just limit Kirby's air time like Crystal Shards did and have a lockon for absorbing/spitting
fpbp
kirby moves like a snail and floating only makes him slower. the only way to fix this is with a vehicle; see: kirby air ride.
there will never be a 3d kirby game
That would be beyond stupid. The gaming industry needs a huge turn instead of just remaking/ bringing back old titles.
It’s getting weird honestly...
But on the other hand a 3D Kirby game would be awesome, not if they related it to smash or any of their top sellers in any way though
I wouldn't be so sure. HAL has been going mad with hiring 3D artists and other nonsense recently. They've been wanting to do a 3D kirby for years and canned them for not being up to standards. Maybe they finally found a winning formula.
A revamped Kirby's Dream Course sequel would be exactly what this industry needs.
that sounds pretty fun, i can see bonus mechanics of combining power effects like freezing a enemy then burning them
Just make it like amazing mirror but with co-op
>Big, open areas to explore.
>Get abilities to open up new paths and secrets.
>Kirby has limited flight, like 64. Certain abilities like Wing or Jet can extend it, but there are still limitations.
>Collect McGuffins by solving puzzles and reaching difficult locations.
>Use them to open later levels and areas.
>Other characters like Dedede, Meta-Knight, Bandanna Dee etc, can be unlocked to use. They'll make certain challenges easier, because they won't lose their abilities, but they won't be able to do everything.
>Certain "Challenge missions" can be unlocked where the normally open stage is set up into an obstacle course, like New Donk City while occupied by Bowser.
>The Robobot armor can be found in levels, and there will be challenges involving getting it from point A to point B in order to solve puzzles, since it's not as mobile as Kirby.
I think Kirby could do well as a collectathon. It feels like a natural progression after things like Crystal Shards, Power Spheres, Sunstones, Code Cubes, etc.
Platformers never should been 3D so... fpbp.
would play, I like it user
You'd probably have to speed him up considerably and limit the floating to maybe 3 jumps and a glide. I'm also imagining it could work as a platformer that really focuses more power ups and puzzle solving.
lock on honestly sounds too complicated for a kirby game. You really shouldn't have to be circling around targets like you're playing Zelda or Metroid Prime.
Gex 2 is fucking fun
Yeah, also what do you guys think of this 3DS control scheme:
>B-jump
>A-Inhale/Copy Ability Attack
>X-Special Attack/Store Inhale Enemy's Ability
>Y-Block
>Right shoulder button-Swallow/Duck
>Left shoulder button-Camera controls(double tap to lock on)
>D-pad or Analog stick-Move
>Select-Drop Ability
The lower screen can be used as a world map or storage for stored copy abilities
Structure it like Super Mario 3D World.
>Y-Block
Y-is this even in any Kirby games? Feels like you have more than adequate ability to dodge things. Blocking should just be tied to powers.
On a related note, how would copy powers work?
I loved the combination-for-unique-powers ability that 64 had, but I don't want to lose the elemental imbuement on weapons that newer iterations have. So why not both, with a dedicated slot for elemental imbuement that you can shift a power to?
Knowing the way the industry works a 3d kirby game would be a reskinned Knack style game. Serviceable but nothing innovative
>Y-block
It's in Kirby Super Star Ultra. I think it's the only kirby game that has a block button.
3D kirby would be fucking boring. Its proof that it would be boring when everyones suggestions are basically "turn kirby into banjo"
>Knack style game
wasn't that game super on rails? Like with crash bandicoot hallways? I can't imagine nintendo making a 3d kirby like that they might as well just go "3D" like 64's turning paths again.
How would a Kirby RPG work?
I'd play the shit out if this. If Kirby were 3d he'd need to be more agile.
Not too well i imagine. If it has to be a "Kirby" rpg it really should have copy abilities but, really now that would just be the monster capture mechanic from DQ/ffv/pokemon. Wouldn't be even microscopically unique.
Like any other game. Kirby would probably change classes regularly while his companions specialize in a particular skill. Maybe Kirby would be one of those characters that can learn skills from enemies and requires a lot of magic points to use.
The only way the completely unique copy ability combos can come back is if they shrink the number of abilities back to the Dark Matter Trilogy levels. And it'd be difficult to make blends with things like Yoyo and Mirror.
Also, the elemental system in Star Allies was terribly broken. It made using any of the base element abilities obsolete. Why use Fire when you could have Fire ______ instead? Why use a base weapon/dream friend when you can super-charge it for no cost? It sounds good on paper, but in the end, it just made the game shallower.
Basically, I think abilities should be kept to being attacks and keys for puzzles, with switching and maintaining powers through dangerous areas being key, moreso than "Look at all the destruction I can wreak without even trying!" There should be some of that, because this is Kirby, after all, but not the the degree it was in Star Allies.
If there were going to be any Combo abilities, I'd suggest they be more like Geokinesis or Curling Stone. Two characters working together for one powerful attack, instead of permanent buffs. So let there be two player co-op with helpers or whatever.
