smooth framerate matters more, just make sure its not a pixelated mess

>SOUL

It has to be appealing to look at and you have to be able to tell what things are.

Not much, the scenery is more important. Right now I'm playing Shenmue III and is impressing me with the flowers, lakes and all those things, it's beautiful.

A consistent art style matters most to me. I don't give a shit if the textures have fuckmapping or there's one trillion polygons on the main character or something.

Style is more important than shiny grayfix.

who is this handsome fella

As long as it isn't seizure inducing clown vomit I really don't care. Just make a good game.

I don't give a single fuck about graphics and the graphics whores on Zig Forums confuse me greatly.

Nice to have but not absolutely essential.

I like looking at high res textures and high poly models, but I always end up turning down some settings because during gameplay all of that detail is lost and I prefer a higher framerate.

As long as it's pulled off well, very little.

Not much.

Just look at bannerlord, darksouls, and deus ex. All look pretty much like a console boomer shit.

Cohesive aesthetics are more far important than whatever shit normalfags consider high quality

Decent graphics are nice, but good art design and a sense of atmosphere will be what gives a game actual personality.

The first Silent Hill looks like shitty legos in a dark room in terms of surface-level graphics, but it still stands tall in my mind simply because of strong direction and sound design.

This. 6th and 7th gen were where graphics peaked. 8th gen onwards is pure dogshit.

A lot. It doesn't have to be advanced but it needs to have a pleasant art style.

the fuck is that terrible filter

I'm currently playing unmodded Deus Ex so I guess not much

I can play older games fine, even if they aged badly graphic-wise but I can't play fallout 4 because the graphics are just too atrocious, everything looks like plastic

Really, it depends on the game, but generally, these are the things I value in Vidya, from most valued to sort-of-valued:

1. Story & Characters.
2. Gameplay.
3. Score/soundtrack.
4. Replayability.
5. Graphics.

the parallax mapping in Stalker makes me coom. no game have made brick walls this realistic before nor after

>bro graphics don't matter it's all about the gameplay
>every game has graphics though

>he hasn't played any IF after Zork
Check out Counterfeit Monkey or Hadean Lands or something.

The game itself doesn't decide those, though. It's usually the text adventure parser itself that has those going for it -- the older games just used the console, and stuck to whatever settings the console had.

They literally don't.

Very little but RDR2 made me question that, it looks so good that that actually carried the game in some of its duller moments.
