Gameplay is far better than 2, shotguns are still not as satisfying as 1 though.
The plot is just as wacky as 2, boss design is nice and the soundtrack is amazing... except for those few songs with lyrics I don't know what were they thinking.

It sold well but not to the point where it exploded in popularity, they had to redo the entire game from scratch after switching engines and they're over 400 employees now at Gearbox, so it's more costly.
