but, the main purpose of AI is to eliminate work that would have to be done manually by humans. no productivity is lost. it's not a perfect solution, but UBI is more or less unavoidable in some way or another. it's still going to be problematic as some people will still be able to work (and thus hog all sorts of power, wealth and connections), which means people will still compete for jobs and it's going to be a horrible shitshow. we can only hope that governments don't do a shit job at managing AI and corporations because we're fucked if they don't.

it's more or less guaranteed that the US is going to be omega fucked though because corporations run the whole country. people won't have money to pay for shit because they don't have jobs, meaning more downsizing and automation, which means even less money and shit. they will still probably install UBI but a really spiteful and weak version of it, and it'll only serve to keep the masses from literally starving to death and not much more. judge dredd's setting will look like an utopia next to future america probably
