Don't be a minmaxing sperg though, Arcanum's character progression is famously broken and you're only ruining your own fun.

Yes, magical throwing weapons are probably the best equipment in the game behind magic bows.
Magic bows are good? I thought they were as bad as most guns.
Bows are great at end game.

Not at all. With high dexterity they fire like a machine gun and chew through enemies, and the stat investment in them is much lower than guns.
Magic bows: Dex + Archery
Guns: Str + Perception + Firearms to actually use them, plus INT and several branches of technology and found schematics to actually craft anything good, and then the ammo also weighs a ton.

It was a nice touch compared to all the other mastery quests, so I'll give you a pass.
Harm spell + temporal magic (slow enemies, haste yourself) + 20 dexterity.
Haste and dex give you speed, which in this game means action points. You'll be able to cast harm enough times to kill anything in one turn.
You'll need enough willpower to get the spells you want (and learning spells is important to max out magical aptitude, which scales your damage), otherwise you can do whatever. Summoning is strong.
People always post harm and temporal magic spam, but what about other schools? Any good spell speople normally ignore?
You can use the force or fire trees instead of black magic. I don't think you can cheese as hard with those spells as harm, but you won't struggle with anything.
White necromancy is strong if you're using lots of companions, cause they will die sometimes. Obviously conveyance is good for utility.
Compared to Harm? No. If you don't want to spam/use Harm any of the other spell schools are fine though.
When the fuck are we going to get an Arcanum: Enhanced Edition with non-shit combat?

you can pretty much buy the dark helm at the first village you go to and max your magic aptitude. No need for learning spells.
I'd rather have the cut content.

The first fire spell gives you a straight +4 dex buff, doesn't scale with aptitude either. Grab that, charged ring, and firearms training and you've got enough shots a turn out the gate that you can just stroll up and gun down the bridge bandits most of the time

magic is the most busted
molotovs, magic bows and charisma builds are pretty strong as well
force has an instantkill spell which is pretty strong, and summoning can be pretty useful as well
