PS1/N64 era games are retro, not the Wii
Galaxy 2 was a great game regardless tho

no, anything 20 years or older is retro

>PS1/N64 era games are retro, not the Wii

How? Why? Early-2000's people called the SNES/Genesis era retro already even if it was only 10 years ago from that time.

>ps2 is already becoming retro

>Not living in the early 2000's and calling 90's gaming retro

Nope.

>now we are hitting 5G when 4G was a big thing back then
wtf is this argument

Reminder that 10 years from now /vr/ will still not consider the ps2 retro

was 4G a big thing?
is 5G a big thing?

Retro = Pixel.
Old = Low Poly.
All of the above = indie.

Fags at /vr/ don't think it's retro. It's fucking dumb.

This. Although /vr/ will always refuse to believe anything that came out after the N64 is even remotely "Retro." They'll be permanently stuck in that part of the past.

And watch the retards on /vr/ still refuse to let us post about it.

Hard disagree. Anything that's 10 years or older is retro. If it's aged it's retro. The only people who think this way are literal zoomers.

Only pre 90's games are retro. Don't @ me.

Well, to be fair only the initial part of the PS2's library is becoming retro. 2000 was when it released which means only it's launch titles will be considered retro. Give it another five or six years and it'll really hit that mark.

Retro is gaming in generations that are not mostly made up of style over substance shit games with bad controls, bad gameplay, tons of fucking stupid story, and/or overdone graphics that distract you from the actual game. My cutoff date for retro is the mid-90s, specifically when fucking N64 and PS1 shit started coming around like the garbage Mario 64 and Metal Gear Solid, and PC's move into garbage like Half-Life.
Just because you played a game as a little baby doesn't make it retro, kiddies.

25 years is peak retro. /vr/ is actually more free minded only going for 20 years atm.

>Retro doesn't mean old, it's (arbitrary cut off I se)
Found the /vr/tist that everyone always laughs at.

That's because games and the game industry have not meaningfully changed between the PS2 and PS5. The term retro in contemporary vocabulary exists to convey how past eras are aesthetically distinguished from present day.

>takes us 10 years to get from 4G to 5G
>we're advancing so fast!!!!

5G is just for lame shit like self driving cars. Even then they’re not meant for super long distances

The PS2 is older now than the N64 was when /vr/ was made.

>arbitrary
Every single time someone replies to me, it's a good chance that it's some dumb fucking kid with zero reading comprehension. It's not arbitrary if I FUCKING EXPLAIN EXACTLY WHY I CHOSE THAT FUCKING TIME, YOU UNEDUCATED LITTLE CHILD.
Jesus, it's like everyone here is fucking 8 years old or something.

Except for the Dreamcast. They consider the Dreamcast retro because it came out before 2000, and for some reason they think 2000 is a special year.

>only mutuals may
Fag.

What the fuck is a mutual? Mutual friend or what?

A twittter account that the initial poster follows and vice-versa.

>for some reason they think 2000 is a special year.
Because these privileged kids back then that grew up with it refuse to believe they're old as fuck games now.

Yeah, but why is 2000 the cutoff? I keep asking, yet no one has been able to give me a good answer.

Just because something is retro doesn't make it good. Galaxy was shit then and it's shit now.

>uses phones as an example of what retro is
Holy shit what an infuriating comment

The irony is no one bought a Dreamcast on launch and waited till 2000 to play it, it's apart(along with Shenmue) of the chain events on how the console ended up to be a commercial failure.

Because they think it was the beginning of "modern day gaming" which is stupid because most games back then aged like sour milk. all it did was make games slightly more prettier but offered nothing modern about it

>games and the game industry have not meaningfully changed between the PS2 and PS5
yes they have, retard.
