and so it's better than A Link To The Past in every single way, why does so many people say otherwise? does it drop in quality later on?
Just played 5 hours of this for the first time

Seething zoomers / gen xers who grew up with 2d games first. And no it's pretty consistent in quality the whole game.
a lot of people are dumb as fuck, for future reference
>and so it's better than A Link To The Past in every single way
Correct. I have no issue with people preferring LttP, but LttP fans tend to have a chip on their shoulder about their game being "the oldschool OoT", and just have to show that their game is superior via any means necessary even if it makes no sense. OoT has more content, more varied areas and actually less handholding (which is something I'll never understand why people claim otherwise, given LttP tells you exactly where to go way more often). OoT was even actually responsible for giving the series an artstyle more western and less 'anime' than any of the prior games (again, people pretend otherwise, because they substitute the Katsuya Terada artwork for the actual concept/manual art and in game sprites, which were kawaii as fuck).
King Dodongo is lazy and too easy. In the Water Temple, when you get the longshot, make sure you check behind the chest and you'll find a time block, if you miss it you could waste hours. Only legit flaws of this game.
Probably just 'Zoomers' that watched that one e-celeb whose video keeps getting posted here talking about how it's not as good as Link to the Past.
you can only trigger the kakariko well cutscene by entering town one way but not from the mtn
No it's clearly the high point of the Zelda series. People trash it because it's annoying to see it getting praise for over 20 years straight.
ITT Apples and Oranges.
It’s easily one of the best games in the series. People tend to hate games for being popular.
nigger
people autistically like to point out that the grass field is just a lot of wasted space because there are not enough enemies and that in 2d games there are more things going on in the fields. honestly i thought it was neat having a big field that was mainly meant to be a hub that you could run around in with the horse, and its not like the field was completely empty, you had special poes and some hidden holes there too.
Why was majora so meh, seriously what the fuck even the ocarina songs fucking blow compared to oot.
>never played through night cycle
When I was a kid I remember laughing hysterically at the stalchildren
This board has an overabundance of lonely angry at the world edgy basement Virgin weeb zoomers. Don't listen to them. The rest of the world thinks the game is great.
Most people think Ocarina of Time is a better game. The game is basically ALttP in 3D, it follows the same narrative structure and mostly uses the same items. Perhaps the main difference is that OoT's combat is more about waiting for your chance to strike while ALttP is more about mashing the sword button, different people prefer different styles.
They're very different experiences, both are very good. LttP has a more arcade experience, while OoT has slower pacing, more emphasis on story, etc. They're so different they still make 2D Zeldas and 3D Zeldas based LttP and OoT respectively.
Zelda II is the best Zelda and LTTP is crap. OOT brings back the magic of II and MM, WW, and BOTW are all decent to good.
I played OoT for the first time last year and thought it was great.
>does it drop in quality later on?
Only if you count the water temple, but that's because EVERY game's water temple sucks a big sulfurous shart.
>The game is basically ALttP in 3D
and like always, the rehash isn't as good as the original. say what you want about lttp, but at least it wasn't a 20fps slideshow.
The high point of the game is the forest temple so and it only ever dips in quality in the water temple if you are playing the n64 version
shut up retard you're not supposed to like this game, you're supposed to be a cool hipster and like majora's mask or wind waker
I pretty much agree, but that's because I had a Genesis and not a SNES. It's kind of what happens with FF games. A lot of people a little bit older than me really like FF6 the most. I like FF7 the most because I didn't have a SNES. If I had played FF6 when I was younger I might prefer that instead. Link to the Past is dated, but you have to remember that it was back then, when games were like they were. Link to the Past was a game you could just get lost in looking for secrets or trying to figure out what to do next. You'd go to school and your friends would be like "did you get the item from the shop? you need that". OOT is a better game to me, but it's because I was 10 when it launched. You can't fuck with games people played when they were 10 years old. For some people, Link to the Past was in their hands when they were ten.
>side-jumping all the way to the gate to reach it before night
The game peaks with the Forest Temple and only even gets close to that level again with the Spirit Temple. Everything else is just kinda meh.
bruh
My few niggles with the game:
>boot swapping is obnoxious in vanilla OoT64
>not a lot of enemies in Hyrule Field
>there's some stuff surrounding and in the Shadow Temple that's legitimately kinda dumb to figure out the first time (particularly hiding a Small Key chest under one of the bombable piles of shit that aren't obviously bombable)
>lighting in OoT3D is way too bright in most cases
That's about it on my end.
