I'll be frank: I don't see it ending well. Sex is always a major make or break part of relationships for most people, and if this trauma is flashing to her every time then it will not get better without professional help and will create more of a divide with a lot of resentment.

It might be good to have a serious talk with her about your guy's future and if this is something she can get help for or not (if she is not already seeing a therapist).
