Gonna have laser eye surgery in a couple of weeks. Any of you guys had it? The horror stories of permanent dry eye are terrifying but I've got tired of wearing glasses all the time.

Enjoy your fucked vision in a few years.

Careful, you can get keratoconus from that

Dont get lasik. Get prk.

No but I knew someone who had it done and it was good for a bit but after a while their vision just went to shit again

You know you could've used contact lens instead

I once saw a horror movie in which the girl went to get eye surgery and she did by being stabbed through the eye. Final destiny was it?

Don't do it OP, i got lasek two years ago and have been blind ever since

this, the eye is always changing shapes, eventually you will get fucked up vision again.
i do not recomend it unless you are borderline blind and require huge ass bottle-bottom thick glasses.

I got laser eye surgery a while ago but after a few months one of the eyes stopped shooting lasers and after about a year the remaining eye was only powerful enough to burn through tin

The original doctor behind Lasik has been campaigning for years to get it banned, because he outright lied to regulars to get it approved and has regretted it ever since.

Got PRK back in '17, went from 20/50 to 20/15. Been fine since. good luck user.

got lasik in 2010, went from 20/20 to...

nice blogposting, bub.

Laser is so fucking risky you must be mad to attempt it

Lasik is literally a scam and harmful, the guy who invented it literally admitted to it being a harmful scam he did only to get money and after a change of heart has been trying to get it outlawed

>according to an FDA patient survey, more than 95% of patients were satisfied with their vision after surgery.

Ignore the retards OP, do your research

Well theres like a less than 1% chance of permanent issues. It's not that risky

>less than 1%
(You)

I got lasik last year and got perfect vision ever since. Hell I even got a gf because I no longer had glasses shitting on my face.

They won't do laser eye surgery on you unless your vision remains stable for at least a year. You usually need a referral from your eye doctor and if your vision is still changing they won't give you one.

OP, I got PRK about two years ago. I couldn't get LASIK because my cornea's are too thin. My vision was fucked for about a week but slowly got better. I'm also migraine prone and those first few days were 24/7 nonstop migraine. But now I have 15/20 vision and has remained stable. The first few months it did feel like my eyes would dry out and be fatigued all the time. I think that was because I was so used to having glasses with the anti glare shit. I'm fine now though.

And because you're wondering, it was absolutely painless and was over in about 6 minutes. You can see it all though. It looks like they put a shot glass over your eye, poor water on it, then wipe your eyeball with a cloth. And you smell burning flesh. Then after a few minutes they do the other eye and you're done. They offer you ativan if you're nervous.

a-user?????

Video games

sorry, my 3 LBS 4 inch thick glasses slipped off and I had to lubricate

How long after surgery was this survey conducted?

I got lasik back in february. One eye is pretty okay and eagle-eyed but the other is blurry as fuck for anything more than 2 feet away from my face. It's my dominant eye too so it takes a conscious effort for my vision to focus half-way decently. I'm going back for an appointment on the 1st to see about a touch-up.

Having to use eye-drops when before I never had to is annoying but still easier than dealing with contacts or glasses.

How do you keep your eye absolutely still during the surgery? or you dont have to?

I was researching SMILE. Also there is a company which is making eagle eye vision artificial retinas that I might get in a few years

The machine is precise enough that if your eye moves even slightly it shuts off instantaneously until your eye is back in position.

Damn man you ever think why you are so paranoid? Did you ever think of getting some CBT to help? You'll literally be a happier and more fulfilled person if you get that paranoia treated.

kek

thirty years

lol

The pillow thing where your head rests has dipped to fit your head. They also keep your eyelids open with those prong things in A Clockwork Orange. Otherwise you keep still. They tell you to stare at a light but I don't remember having any trouble.

This user might be right. I remember it being pretty easy.

And there it is

>15/20 vision
do you mean 20/15?
20/15 vision means that the test subject sees at 20 feet what a person with normal vision sees at 15 feet.
you typically keep the first number at 20 feet (the standard) and change the second to reflect your vision.

>prong things
They are called eyelid retractors/speculums and commonly used in surgery. They also come in different sizes and are harmless.

I've had it. Done me no problems like, and I was blind as a bat beforehand.

It's scary and recovery takes a while but I recommend it.

Downside; 5 years later and my eyesight is deteriorating again at 30.

Yes thats what I meant. I haven't been able to get a recent checkup though due to various circumstances, including covid19.

Yup those are the ones. You can kinda feel them which is odd.

scratch the last bit, it's not your vision but what someone else would look at. I hate this crap.
