It’s not a good Zelda game and it’s not even that good of an open world game.
>three years ago nintendo made an open world powerpoint slideshow that runs at barely 30 fps
>the entire industry is still laughing
>It's not a good X game
Then Rockstar came along and shit all over Zelda.
>Defending shitty bait
Explain what this does so much better than other open world games. The only reason you would think that is if you play literally nothing but nintendo games
BASED
Heavily physics based combat and puzzle solving
Fpbp.
i liked RDR2 but it's not even close.
amazing..........
simply...astounding.........
You're right. RDR2 is miles ahead of BotW.
Nothing. It's the Hollow Knight of its genre.
noooo you're supposed to jump around and switch weapons constantly so it looks exciting!
Physics based combat that have existed for well over a decade as well as some puzzles that are designed so that even a 5 year old could solve them? All repeted dozens of time to fill the map (koroks) or extremely barebones ones that feel like 80% of them were designed by interns (shrines). Truly the best game ever created.
wrong pic OP
This reply always makes me laugh, it's a token reply that shows that you didn't even understand what make the game standing out.
The real reason is that it's the only openworld where exploration is actually entertaining and integrated in the gameplay. This gives the game an adventure feeling that's almost unique in the industry.
i recently got a switch and got this game and holy shit its boring
It's a solid 7/10.
>This gives the game an adventure feeling that's almost unique in the industry.
One of the only good things about open-world games are the feeling of adventure and the exploration, which is something "most" open world games get right. RDR, Witcher 3, hell even skyrim does it. Is it seen as one of the best game ever just because it gets one of the fundamental requirements for an open-world game right? Why? How is the exploration more "integrated in the gameplay" that other open-world games?
Thing's outdated imagine if Nintendo had tech to make a RDR2 or Witcher 3 caliber Zelda
I honestly, without trolling, cannot believe that anyone that isnt a child or someone with brain damage would think this is a 10/10. Atleast if they had played more than only nintendo games in their life
Didn't ubisoft have a copycat ready?
If there is one thing Nintendo is good at, its making their autistic haters continue to seeth at them, year after year.
>running ruined by stupid green circle
>can run for minutes without seeing anything noteworthy
>cant use horse because game is so vertical
>climbing encourages you to inch up as slowly as possible and abuse glitches like horse whistle to avoid losing stamina
>can't climb when it rains and it always fucking rains
>only enjoyable experience is gliding which is present in tons of games prior
I don't even know how to respond to this , this whole post is a disaster. You're low IQ and have ADD
BoTW's problem is that they didn't have enough toppings on their solid pizza base to make it worthwhile past a playthrough.
How they fucked up:
>All weapons feel and animate exactly the same, axes hammers sword etc all same shit
>Bullet time dodge shit
>Carry infinite full heals you can pause the game to use
How to fix it:
>Weapon Durability is lessened by half it's impact, now it's about using monster parts to craft/repair/reinforce/upgrade your weapons
>Each weapon has a distinctive feel and playstyle, like weapons in souls where some random longsword has this unique dodge attack etc
>You can only carry like a handful of potions and food items and you can only eat the foot when you're able to take the time to eat it, can't pause the game, same as souls
>Suddenly enemies become not about just doing 24 hearts of damage, and just the same shitty enemies in different colours, it becomes about timing dodges, deflecting attacks, and stat gaming your enemies properly with a build
Literally just make the game more Dark Souls than it was clearly trying to be. Dark Souls with a big open world and climbing around and toony whimsical artstyle that makes you happysad and nostalgic all at the same time.
It's very simple. In most open worlds "exploration" means heading toward a point marked on the map, mostly following a straight line or a road. There is no observation of the world and there is no reason to wander around aimelessy. The whole world is useful for immersion but you don't feel like you are exploring it.
In BotW the thing is completely different. There are very few quest marks on the map and you don't need to keep opening the map or checking the minimap if you are going there. The exploration is much more natural. The world is full of landmarks, in general you walk torward them but in the process you'll see many interesting points and you'll go inspect them. And almost always you'll find something interesting, at least for the first 50 hours. And you can't always just follow a straigth line. You navigate the world observing it, not through a map. You need to play it to really understand the difference.
Shouln't american kids sleeping in bed right now?
I never thought I'd see a problemless game, but Nintendo somehow managed to do it with Breath of the Wild.
It's hard to copy. It's not innovative in the sense that you can just copy the OoT mechanics that benefits any melee game like z-targeting. Being able to climb anywhere for example is really hard to do and would basically "break" many games. Most develop their games with barriers and obstacles in mind
And it had absolutely nothing in it. What a massive step back from LttP just to show off 3D graphics.
Not him but you're in love more with the idea of the game than the actual execution. The main quest has a ton of handholding, the """something interesting""" is a bunch of boilerplate shrines and korok seeds 99% of the time, and the easiest way to traverse the world is to just go to a high point and glide in a straight line. There's a hundred other games I'd rather play for satisfying exploration, BotW's world is too much bread not enough butter.
just get From to do a Zelda game honestly, they nail that "journey into the unknown" feeling
Post cool physics/combat webms. I'm just playing the game for the first time and am amazed by how creative some people are.
Have you played a single Spider-Man game? Being able to climb anywhere is not even remotely innovative. The reason other games don't do it is that being able to just press up next to a surface and climb up sheer cliffs with no explanation is ridiculous. It's more lazy on Nintendo's part than anything, they didn't come up with any kind of logic behind it, they didn't put in a lot of animation work, they didn't come up with any interesting climbing-based tools or obstacles, etc. They just took Spider-Man and made it 100x slower and added a green stamina wheel to it.
Ok? Ive played 150 hours of BotW and I dont hate the game, its just insanely overpraised for what it is, it has an abundance of retarded mechanics and flaws yet still has an AVERAGE rating of 9.7 among critics. The thing that youre describing is not unique in the slightest. Morrowind and many other games did it 20 years ago. And you can still turn off the map markers and minimap in pretty much all open world games. The landmarks and interesting stuff are still there. Sure not EVERY game is designed around it like BotW or Morrowind but you can usually still asks npcs or read signs to find landmarks.
Dangerously based. HK takes the crown for most overrated platformer of all time just like BOTW takes the crown for most overrated open world game of all time.
>Ubisoft, EA, Rockstar, etc. have been making open world games for a decade or even longer
>genre is stagnating
>Nintendo shows up
>having no background in AAA 3D open world development, they decide on a whim "Here, let me try that"
>right off the bat, Nintendo make the best open world game ever made on their very first attempt using a fucking toaster.
This will never not be hilarious.
It doesn't matter how many times you spam/samfeag, it won't make a difference.
>Chad cavalry vs. the virgin infantry
>Being able to climb anywhere is not even remotely innovative
Dumbest post in the thread so far
Based
The problem is that kino game design like Morrowind's fell out of favor for a while and was replaced by the mindless follow the arrow of modern games.
Every review is a product of its time, and while Nintendo didn't innovate that much, that style of design was so unheard of by 2017 that Nintendo implementing it was like a breath of fresh air.
>I didn't think it was great
>lol u mad *posts memes*
We can end the thread now, here's how it goes every time. Even this post is bound to get macro posted by Twitch chat bants.
