That's a defense as old as time. It was a pretty childish thing to say. Rather than own up to the divided response the game garnered (which should have been expected given the game is pretty much a hundred million dollar indie title), Kojima opted for the most embarrassing line of defense imaginable.

The player response is pretty much the same everywhere. The conceit that people who dislike are somehow intellectualy unequiped to enjoy it is laughable. It's the kinds of excuse you hear from edgy teenagers when you criticize their first sci fi novel. As someone who has played and somehow enjoyed death stranding, I can say with absolute confidence that the game deserves every bit of criticism it has recieved.

Yep, thankfully it's mostly gameplay and cutscenes are short things once in a while that you can trigger once you're ready to advance. Until the end of the game that is then it's 2hours of heavy cutscenes, roll credits and then it throws you back out there to do anything you want forever.
