Switch vs Wii U

Between Switch and Wii U, which one is the better game console? Financially it's obvious, but which one do you personally believe is the better console? I vote for the Switch.

The most important thing is the games and Switch has ported almost all of the Wii U's best games. So by virtue of that alone, I would say Switch.
Aside from that, the Wii U's controller was more comfortable, it had backwards compatibility with the Wii, free online, and Virtual Console.

>which one is the better game console?
Potentially or in reality?
Because the Wii U had the potential to be a console DS with HD versions of games like TWEWY and Trauma Center otherwise there's no question that the switch is better because it has so much more games and third party support.

At this point all the Wii U has over the switch is 3D world and free online.

Yeah this. I also just have more memories and fondness of wii u.

as someone who owns both, it's the wii u and it's not even close. similar library, better build quality, better ergonomics, more features, free online.

Wii U had an amazing potential but was abandoned by Nintendo due to bad marketing. Modding it can turn it into one of the best emulator consoles you could possibly ask for, with WiiU, Wii, 3DS and of course pretty much anything playable on Retroarch at your disposal. And, although small, the actual library of games available for the console itself is great.

The switch is turning out to be the best commercial Nintendo console, but it's complete lack of backwards compatibility with Wii games holds it back as a homebrew console.
It's hard to pinpoint which one's best, but your Wii U can definitely become a fucking beast if you just sit down for a couple of hours and mod the shit out of it

Wii U obviously.

You make it sound like Nintendo didn't try with the wii u

One is an actual console and the other is a handheld with a

>The switch is turning out to be the best commercial Nintendo console
lol, not even close, zoomer.

Wii U exclusives quality > switch exclusive quality

They didn't

>Yakuza 1&2

They actually put Yakuza on the Wii U? And I didn't know about it!?!?!? WHAT!?!?! Is Wii U region locked?

They didn't, when it came to advertising.

Stay in denial

even though my controller dies every 2 hours, my thumbsticks still work, so wii u i guess

The Wii U had more potential when it came to unique gameplay, sadly very few developers utilized it. It also had a built in internet browser, which was great for reading manga, streaming anime and fapping to porn. And Miiverse was comedy gold.

Switch is just a barebones portable console, it does what it does well, but it's very basic.

I like them both, but the Wii U has a special place in my heart.

i don't need to. it's well known that nu-nintendo will never match the snes, gamecube or ds.

>Games
Switch wins easily. Even without the Switch exclusives most of the good stuff already got ported so no chance for the WIi U there

>Online
Wii U wins because it was free while also having virtual console titles available. Switch Online isn't free and also worse.

>Controller

Wii U Pro Controller > Switch Pro Controller
But the tablet sucked. Not because of its handling but because it had a shit battery and overall was pretty pointless with no games actually making use of it in a meaningful way. Atleast it didn't drift i guess.

>Other features
The Wii U let you play Wii games while the Switch has no backwards support whatoever. Wii U wins

>Gimmick
As mentioned before the whole tablet thing was pretty pointless. Especially because it didn't fulfill its original purpose and that was making console games somewhat portable. The range of the thing is pathetic so if someone wants to use the TV for football or stuff and you will still have to put up with the background noise and the shit battery life wouldn't give you much room either. The Switch does what the Wii U should have done.

>Wii U had an amazing potential but was abandoned by Nintendo due to bad marketing.

This. How is it that Sony can fuck up as bad as they did with marketing the PS3 for as long as they did, then turn it around so hard with the Kevin Butler? How come Nintendo couldn't reposition the console like Sony did with the PS3?

Switch? I mean most of the good Wii U have gotten enhanced ports or sequels at this point.

That said the Wii U controller was underutilized and underappreciated. At the best of the times the gamepad controls were incredibly intuitive and sometimes feels like a loss in Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Maker 2.

>feels like a loss in Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Maker 2.
>Mario Maker 2

I was honestly beginning to think I was in the minority on that. I never played the Splatoon games, but I loved Mario Maker on the Wii U and feel like something is missing in Maker 2. It has more features, but without the gamepad it feels...off.

third parties never abandoned the PS3

nintendo was already busy turning around the 3ds disaster. similar to how sony was too busy turning the ps3 around to fix the vita's issues.

user, they supported the thing until the bitter end and even revised their advertising.

Yes and yes.
It doesn't matter though because the port is utter trash.

Switch is better, and all the worth while Wii U games will be eventually ported to the Switch.

>then turn it around so hard
user, the ps3 was the biggest disaster of that gen.

I actually forgot that 3DS was a disaster when it launched. This is true.
