I really wish they were more creative/active with the lore in Zelda games. Since I was just a kid I've always had to supplement it in my head and give more purpose to the adventures. Breath of the Wild had the best opportunities for this but was hugely disappointing in it's utter lack of world building.

Ironically, the period where Aonuma was in charge is actually when the series was best at this. Even an innocuous game like the minish cap explained why link wears his hat and why he always finds shit under the grass and rocks. Fujibayashi is the one who killed it. SS pulled a bunch of new races out of nowhere and never used them again.
