Being suicidal is like being trapped in a burning building on the highest floor. It's not that you want to jump, it just beats burning to death.
Thanks for reading my unique and eye opening human insight.

Yume Nikki, though in a much more esoteric way than the games listed here.

Yume Nikki

Honestly, Lisa the first was kinda weak for me. Just felt like a really on the nose Yume Nikki. The Painful was god tier though.

Brain Damage.

Shitty dos-like game where you keep kidnapping people and pouring acid into their brains over and over and it never ends because you don't get the results you needed.

Played it for 10 mins before I realized it's a Jeffrey Dahmer sim.

I hadn't played a game so specifically tuned into my own interests since Barkley Gaiden, until I played Lisa the Painful. Shame the guy who made it completely disowned it.

edith finch, disco elysium, hellblade senua (might trigger your brownie points sensibility)

Sounds kinda cool

I bought the game because the cover art looked cool. What an impulse buy. I then gifted it to my niece because she liked Undertale and it became one of her favorites as well.
Also, what did Austin say?

The cover art is cool. This was after he said the stuff about being ashamed of being white, but he doesn't like how violent and dark the game is and doesn't want to make games like that anymore. I don't think I'm ever going to get Mad Max, martial arts, and wrasslin together like that again for a long time, unfortunately.

All of Higurashi did. 1 and 6 felt the most prevalent to me though.

I suppose so, 6 was the one where Rena actually wonders if she's depressed

I can kinda see where he's coming from.
>I'm going to chop off this little girl's NIPPLE unless you KILL your friends
Out of context that sounds pretty, "I'm 12 and this is dark." But I never felt any of the dark shit was doing it for the sake of it. It felt warranted and pretty grounded overall. Shame he feels differently.

I wish that was my cum coming out of her mouth

Yeah I understand why he wants to distance himself from it but I also think that games can have dark shit if the tone and setting calls for it without feeling corny. I think Lisa the Painful rode that line well. Lisa the Joyful did not.

>doesn't want to make games like that anymore
source? i know about the white guilt shit but not that

I wish more games used the sidescrolling platformer rpg style the Painful used. It's fun.

The sixth episode was definitely the most in depth with Rena.

Mental illnesses aren't even real
They are literally all in your head
You can easily stop being mentally ill by not thinking about your mental illness
It's fucking retarded how people bitch about it when it's not even a real illness lmao

Pain is also just in your head. Doesn't make it any less real.

Can you talk about mental illness without brownie points at this point? If you acknowledge it it looks like forced diversity and if you don't acknowledge it it looks like you just slapped a label without really discussing the topic. You really can't do shit in video games these days since a significant amount of the market seems more intent on censoring ideas than evolving games as a story telling mechanism.

Persona 5 has Futaba who clearly has PTSD and may be on the spectrum, but even that's kinda dubious and I'm sure Zig Forumsirgins will call it brownie point shit.
