How do I into Castlevania?

Play the original games in order, but skip 2, it's just bad. Once you beat all of the classic linear games you can move on to the metroidvania ones which play differently, starting with Symphony of the Night on PS1.
Play 悪魔城 not this censored seppovania shit
git gud
/thread.
The collection has the nip versions.
Play the original.
when it comes to classicvanias i think you should start with super castlevania 4, cuz it's the easisest and one of the best, then 1, then 3, dont play 2
Devote your life to Christ, get a whip, kick the shit out of monsters.
When you get to 3 play the japanese version with a translation patch, it has better music and is easier than the US version, which is complete bullshit and even removed a checkpoint right before the final boss.
Through the front gate. Duh.
Is 2 even worth playing?
Castlevania 1 on NES
then Symphony of the Night
There are some patches to make the game better but overall it isn't really worth it. It's just boring compared to the other classic games.
Don't skip 2, just get the fixed version or Revamped for snes type graphics. It's worth a playthrough.
Turn it on and pick up the controller
I wish I had known this ages ago. I never beat CV3 because of the difficulty.
Yeah, Konami usually made their games harder in the US to stop rentals, but they went too fucking far with 3. They nerfed all of the party members too.
It’s just westerners are kikes, look at eBay prices vs Yahoo. Games I’ve bought for 100円 are on eBay for $40
Never heard of this. Pretty crazy desu. I always thought the difficulty was out of control. It was more frustrating than anything.
Just play bloodstained and go from there
>jump into Castlevania by playing a non-castlevania game
Well bucko it might be a good idea to play the modernized carbon copy if you want to get into the franchise. Older games can be rough nig
>tfw listen to the music of the series more than playing them nowadays

I don't know which studio I'd trust to be handed the task of "Make a new modern Classicvania".
3 is better than 1
By playing Castlevania (NES).
Yeah, though 1 is more memorable
Start with CV1 for Classicvanias and Sotn for Metroidvanias.
If you want to play the best of each then play Rondo and AoS
I like it. It's kinda janky though. The platforming is better than in the later Metroidvanias
For me the only Classicvania I could tolerate is Rondo of Blood because it had much smoother controls.
I don't think that's an unpopular opinion. I like both games about the same. I like how III feels like a grand adventure with a lot of aesthetic variation, but I also appreciate how tight and short the original is.
>Rondo
>best Classicvania
Nah.
The only answer. Have fun, OP.
No it's not. Once the games started adding new gimmicks none of them could compete with the complete fine-tuned masterpiece that is CV1.
Wish more people thought this way about Megaman 1. They are games I replay time and time again while the others I kinda don't enjoy as much.
Agree with this, revamped is fine
Play SC4 then Rondo of Blood and finally Bloodlines, SotN and finally all of the GBA and DS handhelds.
There’s 2 basic types of Castlevania games. Classicvania (2D action platformers) and Metroidvanias/Igavanias (2D RPG platformers).
For classicvania play these:
>Castlevania
>Castlevania 3 (JP version if possible)
>Castlevania Bloodlines
>Super Castlevania IV
>Rondo of Blood (though it’s very hard to find)
There are other good classicvanias but those are the “must plays.”
Metroidvanias/Igavanias
>Symphony of the Night
>Aria of Sorrow
>Dawn of Sorrow
>Portrait of Ruin
Same as before, there are more games in this category, but that’s more than enough to get started and get a feel for them. The Castlevania collection is a good place to start if you don’t want to download roms or emulators, and I support Konami rereleasing some of their older titles as it means they’re doing something good for once.
RONDO -> SOTN -> AOS
Did you have fun?
1 -> 3 -> 4 -> Every Metroidvanias
>starting with Rondo
No.
It should be, but 3 while having so much content and many improvements also sadly does have a few genuinely cheap moments. 1 from start to finish stays fair and consistent in quality.
Be into masculinity.
I think MM1 is legitimately unrefined compared to the games after it. My favorite MM games are MM2, 9, and 10, though; so I agree with the general sentiment. The charge shot was always more of a detraction than anything to me.
The slides suck too, imo
