Game devs of reddit, how's your game coming along?

I do not make video games
I only download video games without paying the people developing video games
It's not coming. Because i'm stupid.
And i don't even know what i want.
Trying to find a way to learn how to program
3 Days in I can't get a simple AI that makes the enemy follow the player.
I added one more idea to my idea list. 383 ideas and counting. I'll have a game any day now.
Is this our actual game dev thread today or is it just going to be memes?
how can you make a game if you don't even understand maps, dictionaries, pointers, and addresses?
Study maps, dictionaries, pointers, and addresses
Or use RPG Maker
Where should I begin if I want to make a game?
Download an engine or game making program, literally any one. Many of them are free so you have no excuse not to
Like if you make an excuse not to right now, you're not going to make it
95% of the people using GMS2 in /agdg/ have never even used ds_map or ds_list or ds_grid
progress, now my fucking mindless drones get stuck in walls and can't free themselves
i just started last night with unity. bought some online courses to learn c#
My main character.
Working on a turn based strategy, considering refactoring how I handle a character's turn. Started with something a little more hardcoded, ie they move and then they attack, but now I'm thinking of creating something like a "TurnPhase" object or something, and having something like a "MovePhase" and "ActionPhase" that gets added to a list and iterated through as part of a character's turn. I thought it'd help with making a character's turn more moddable and might make the logic of an enemy's AI easier to compartmentalize. However I'm in that stage of not sure if I'm being clever or retarded
Figure out if you want to be an artist or a programmer and start learning one of those. Don't listen to this faggot
asset flipping isn't the way to go. Learn to produce something of value first.
Oh yeah, tell a guy to build his own engine first, brilliant. If you're already a programmer, yeah, but that suggestion is basically telling a newbie not to bother.
Waiting on a guy to finish scripting a custom battle gui so I can work on something that isn't quests.
>using a game engine means you're asset flipping
Wow I am sure you actually "produce something of value"
hacking sim. doing alright. in the last month i did sound, mission system and basics for hacking.
i've just added in a startup screen with resolution and sounds options. also a "bootup" sequence. they need more styling though.
if only you knew how much i abuse ds_map and ds_list
pretty nice, what's your game about?
I wanna post in these threads regularly, but i dont want to be le cancelled if i ever make it big. Wat do
Could just be semi-vague and if you were to be le-cancelled have plausible deniability to call it a coincidence.
Just don't act like a turbosperg when you post your project, or things that could be tied to you or your project.
>but i dont want to be le cancelled if i ever make it big
wat
Bug Fables guy seems to have done fine.
Begins as Stardew Valley with the hero being an amnesiac. You find out the world is about to be culled as it has been in the past every time society is about to realize its full potential. Something is corrupting animals to become a mixture of beast and men. They are the tools of those who do the culling. Mix of fantasy, Conan, Stardew Valley (I love comfy feels), Stargate and other things. That is the grand idea. I will first have to make a playable game and then indulge any other of my fancy scope creep ideas.
Oh and fighting should be similar to the last God of War. The hero even has a woodcutters axe to start with although I had the idea back in 2006 as an eroge.
Im considering picking up LUA so I can make some Roblox games.
What are you using? Unless it's something super niche, there's probably a tutorial out there somewhere, but it shouldn't be that hard in the first place.
Well I just used some parts of an AI for an FPS to solve it. I did read a guide in the first place, thing is that I just put the wrong node.
Please upvote my game trailer reddit thank you I'll upvote your posts too

I usually mess around for a week or so before remembering how hideously unfun programming is. There isn't really enough time to get good at it unless you don't have any other responsibilities
I never understood furry games, they never seems to be noticed in the normal world, but when you hear about their devs actually making good money I just wonder how.
>There isn't really enough time to get good at it unless you don't have any other responsibilities
Please recognize that you are just rationalizing not wanting to put effort into something. Lots of people have learned skills while having pretty hefty commitments and this sort of dismissive statement is sort of a "fuck you, my responsibilities are more important."
