Yes. Videogames and movies are inherently different mediums and yet most AAA games try desperately to be movies. It's like when cinema was just starting out and most filmmakers didn't take advantage of the medium so movies were basically just recordings of stage plays.

Yeah. It seems like the arcade roots of video games are eclipsed by some movie standards. I play arcade games a lot, and find myself increasingly going more towards niche indie shit again and again because these "movie games" do not really appeal to me a lot of the time. It can and has been done right, but I want a game, not a movie.
