The game was originally going to have 100 level as the creators big send off for the meagadrive but he was forced to release it with about 26. That’s why Seventh Force doesn’t have 7 forms like originally intended.

Even with the rewind cheat on the emulator Seventh Force is extremely tough to beat. Its the farthest I’ve gotten.

Not only does his design lack mass appeal, his style of game does as well. Mario and Sonic are mascots, because they had simple iconic looks, and their games were easy to play for most.

I think the character and his backstory are cool and really bizarre... if Alien Soldier would to have become a franchise it would need to venture into other genres because the original game while fantastic is not for everyone.

Whenever I do 1CC runs, Seven Force always ALWAYS screws me over. I can handle every phase fine except the last one. Fuck man, you really need like 2 slots for Lancer Force for that fight.
I guess my biggest complaint with the game is how little variety you have in viable Force choices. Machine bosses take up a good chunk of the bosses halfway through the game, so shit like Flame Force becomes super situational. Only the Buster Force is consistently useful, Spread Force is plain shit, Homing Force has diminishing returns, and Sword Force is inferior to Lancer Force.

The Japanese manual apparently explains the backstory better. But yeah, the backstory of the game is bonkers but still more comprehensible then the current state of Kingdom Hearts.
