there is a bit of a cult around the game, and those people are plain wrong when they say it's the best ever. As I remember it, the game wasn't hailed as a masterpiece on release. I remember seeing the CGW score and wincing, because the hype up to that point had been in full swing. What is true despite all of that is that the game is unique and DOES hold up over the years, and there's nothing else quite like it today despite all the sequels and different takes. At the very least, if you're into video gaming in a serious way you can't say you are until you've finished Deus Ex. It's just one of those games.

It's not about the game design or the levels design. They are all great, a tad lazy, but still great. The last half stop introducing new characters and relationships. There's only one that could be something but isn't, Savage and the quest of rescuing his daughter. It's mission, after mission, after mission, after mission. The devs even comment on it by having Jock suggest that the people regroup then having JC to refuse it. You can interpret it as JC choosing to carry all this burden on his shoulders and we can see it affect him in the helios ending. He's alone, isolated, doing all this. Fuck, this game is fantastic.

The DX10 renderer on GMDX is by far the brightest and most beautiful version of the game, but for some dumbfuck reason it's limited to 60FPS. If you're a 60hz poorfag you should just run the game on DX10, it should work with vanilla too
