Was Gwyn a bad guy?

Was Gwyn a bad guy?

you know the ole saying, desperate people do desperate things

>Evil is Evil. Lesser, greater, middling… Makes no difference. The degree is arbitary. The definition’s blurred. If I’m to choose between one evil and another… I’d rather not choose at all.
please clap

holy cringe
Imagine watching Internet Flicks
can't be me

Yeah, he was. He knew that the cycle was supposed to turn and that in the Age of Darkness his people would be the powerless ones and the humans would be the "gods." He selfishly came up with a way to extend the Age of Fire by using humans as unwitting tools, and by unnaturally extending the Age of Fire, he caused all of the instability and insanity that spirals further and further which each ever-shortening rekindling of the flame.

Overbearing zealot who was willing to suffer and die for what he believed to be the greater good. So good for a grimdark medieval setting.

Yes, the prick cursed and sacrificed innocent human souls just to keep a hold of his dwindling power. Throne of lies and all that.

No. He helped create civilisation and sacrificed himself to sustain it.

why didn't gwyn just chop down an arch tree and use that as kindling for the fire instead of throwing himself onto it?

What was Gwyns tax policy?
How did he fund Anor Londo?

He was the worst evil of all: a racist.

test

Man, the Pontiff is just Gwyn with 2 swords and without a crown.

No, Pontiff Sulyvahn was right to want to let the fire die.

So what happens if the Dark sets in? Isn't Untended Graves a glimpse of what the Age of Dark would be like?

Was there anything in the OG Dark Souls that implied he created the curse? I know ringed city pretty much confirmed that he's responsible, but was there anything before that?

>he thinks the quote came from the netflix series
Zoom zoom

He was basically afraid of the dark, one big ass baby

Actually the Fire was the bad guy all along.

He died a long time ago.

evil is not so bad
i quite enjoy it

Darkstalker Kaathe states in DS1 that the curse of undeath was created when Gwyn refused to relinquish the flame.

I'm not sure that's what it would be like. I think the untended graves are in a state of transition. The humans have not had time to completely take over, there are still quite a few remnants of the Age of Light lying around.

>fighting to overthrow his dragon overlords is evil
>liberating his people is evil
>sacrificing himself to save his people is evil

Why would anyone think he is evil to begin with?

No, just stupid

Did he? I thought he just said that he resisted nature and fucked with your past.

You can't believe anything he says

Shut up Frampt.

>imagine caring about the story of a non-story driven game

I got that from the wiki. I don't remember his exact words.

Just a terrible dad.

Let's just take a moment to appreciate how nice Gwyn's design is. The bare feet and the robes and all the gold finery and bangles is so well designed and put together.

Bare feet you say

>bare feet
I thought he wore sandals?

Oh, hello there. I will stay behind, to gaze at the sun.
The sun is a wondrous body. Like a magnificent father!
If only I could be so grossly incandescent!

???

>Telling someone to fuck off or murdering hundreds of children by yourself is the same

Where is this from? Some Witcher game? Mass effect? Sounds as stupid as any WRPG

It's easy to see it from our 3rd person perspective but I'm sure if any human in the real world had a chance to save humanity the same way gwyn did, they would. Imagine if you realized that sooner or later, animals would start to overrule humans, unless you sacrifice yourself and keep animals from getting anymore powerful, you'd probably be a little more confused about the situation than you think.
