What DRPGs are you currently playing?
Might start up Elminage Original soon
Just beat System Shock 1, which despite not being a DRPG had way too much dungeon crawling
This is an incredibly bad guide.
>jrpg recommendations
>strange journey redux
>>>>>>>>redux
>ignoring the rest of the franchise with several games that use the same design
I just use it as a conversation starter mostly
Seems to work out well
what will happen first? dungeon travellers 2 gets a pc port or the vita gets an emulator?
>there are few standouts in Japan
>lists more games than what is in the rest of the guide
uh... okay
To be fair, literally all of SMT is bad. Press turn and its variations is the babbiest retard system ever conceived.
Eh, looks fine to me for a total beginner's perspective whoms never played one before. All the games on the top are pretty ezpz and give a decent interdiction to the genre.
Stranger of Sword City is the only DRPG you should play if you only play one DRPG in your life.
Is that game good?
Stranger of Sword City is the only DRPG you should not play if you only play one DRPG in your life.
>On the vita
Okay I'll try it out. It looks pretty cool.
>All the games on the top are pretty ezpz and give a decent interdiction to the genre.
They don't, though. 3 of them are real time which is less than 0.01% of what DRPGs generally are, one of which is beyond terrible and should not be played by anyone. Xeen is recommended as a starting point over 3, which is wrong, and they are bad introductions to what a DRPG is anyways since they are lawn mower simulators. Not even sure why Frayed Knights is on there at all. Maybe the dev made this chart? I can't imagine why else.
Onwards to tier 2:
More of the same with Beholder and Dungeon Master. Recommending starting with Wizardry 6 over 1 for god knows what reason. Arkania is Dante Must Die tier and should not be recommended to anyone. The people meant to play that series will find it on their own.
Japan:
Some decent games are listed, but 90% of it is pure kuso like Experience Inc. games or games for little kids like EO and SMT.
This is almost a troll chart. Like a maybe a literal retard made this. I'm really not sure how this happens.
Sting is dead and that's a good thing
Uh... why
Art
So you're retarded, got it.
>3 of them are real time which is less than 0.01% of what DRPGs generally are,
You're looking at this far too much from a Japanese dungeon crawler lens when its a genre that started in the west.
>Xeen is recommended as a starting point over 3, which is wrong, and they are bad introductions to what a DRPG is anyways since they are lawn mower simulators.
Yeah, thats the point, its an ezpz introduction
>Recommending starting with Wizardry 6 over 1 for god knows what reason.
Wiz 1-5 is too barebones (visually) for most zoomers to give two shits about. 6 while being a fairly unforgiving game is easier to get people to actually pick up due to its presentation.
> Not even sure why Frayed Knights is on there at all.
Its basically Wiz8 without being as hard as Wiz8 can get. Whats there to get?
I'm not the one who made the chart, but I'm not finding much at fault with it, they're all good games, and I really don't think Arkania is THAT hard even.
Curious what would you recommend to others who know nothing about the genre and want to try some of the highlight titles.
>You're looking at this far too much from a Japanese dungeon crawler lens
No, I'm not. Wizardry, Might and Magic, Gold Box, and Bard's Tale are all turn-based. Those are the big ones.
>Yeah, thats the point, its an ezpz introduction
They have lots of backtracking, bad pacing and tedium, and a couple really weird puzzles. Only the combat is easy.
>Wiz 1-5 is too barebones (visually)
The remakes have better graphics and UI than Wizardry 6-8. You didn't even play them.
>Its basically Wiz8 without being as hard as Wiz8 can get. Whats there to get?
It's shit. It shouldn't be on there at all.
PS1 Llylgamyn Saga remakes and the Bard's Tale 1 remake are the best entry points. The Bard's Tale remake even has tooltips.
Other humans value what you do not.
Yeah, I'm sure there are some retards that will pay $30 for a bad game because it has mediocre art.
>Gold Box, and Bard's Tale
Fair enough. I have no idea why those didn't pop in to my head even though I owned most of them on DOS back in the day. Pools of Darkness is balls to the walls fun, its such a cluster fuck of high level spells and mobs right off the bat.
>Bard's Tale 1 remake are the best entry points.
I never tried the remake. For someone who has already played the original would it be worth my time to check it out?
>Pay
>For a game
kek
>pay $30
>For someone who has already played the original would it be worth my time to check it out?
It's not really an improvement over the original beyond being more zoomer friendly.
Noted, thanks
So you're retarded, got it.
>THIS KUSO IS THE ONE DRPG YOU MUST PLAY BECAUSE IT HAS DANBOORU TIER ARTWORK, THIS IS PEAK DRPG!!!!!
>gameplay? what's that?
yeah, i'm really sold on it user
fucking kek
DT2.
I wish this game didn't have whores in it. Cute girls are fine, just don't make them gross whores ffs
He's saying that because you think people pay for these games and thus you apparently do.
I have no problems with the characters except the green haired one, so I'm glad they didn't go with whatever the fuck you wanted.
>I'm glad they didn't go with whatever the fuck you wanted.
flatter chests and bigger penises
DRPGs are just dungeon crawlers that arent good
