Decide to try out Skullgirls

>decide to try out Skullgirls
>hop on matchmaking
>opponent can clearly tell I’m new
>still goes full try hard beating me with 30 second long combos
What the fuck is wrong with these people. I’m not asking them to let me win but for Gods sake go easy on me. I don’t even wanna play anymore.

>playing fighting games
you are retarded

It's the filter of fighting games. It makes you either strive to improve and beat them or drop it quicker than you usually would.
So either git gud or quit now.

And nothing of value was lost.

What do they gain from going %110 against a brand new player

An erection

vindication for having to go through the same thing when they started out

And this is less about Skullgirls and more about these players in general. It’s just Skullgirls playerbase is so small all that’s left are the people who have been playing for years.

>decide to try out Skullgirls
This is where you fucked up

Skullgirls is made by combo junkies for combo junkies so they can get boners by stomping the newcomers who pick the game up for a dollar.

Atleast when I started out on Tekken or Street Fighter the playerbase was large enough where I would be matched with similarly skilled players.

Fighting games are binary win or lose. There is no reason to hold back.

Just be happy you don't have to drop a quarter for every rematch.

yeah any fighting game that isn't new has the problem where there aren't enough new people to keep the low mmr pools filled so you get paired with high ranking folks despite your limited time with the game.

>try out a game specifically made to attract MvC autists
>don't expect autism

It's how online fighting games are. Go through the tutorials and learn or expect to get bodied until you quit.

eh i tend to go east on newbies i even pick characters i have no idea to play as like squiggly. granted if they start to win i put more effort into the match but make it close enough where they atleast got to play. However its the players job to get better and i do this because its fun to see new blood in the game. Others have to show the skill gap that they have to work twoards

Would you rather they beat you by using one move over and over?

Anyone down to play in a south america (south) lobby?

Unironically yes because that would be my fault for not knowing how to counter a single move.

Why do shitters always use the term try hard as insult?
Yes how dare people be better than you.

user, I...

No mercy. We all had the same thing happen to us when we started. It's a dog eat dog world

No one can really tell how bad you are at a glance user, they just do what they're supposed to be doing.

Cmon don’t tell me you can’t tell when someone’s new especially in a fighting game

After a few games, sure. Then I switch to a sub / practice hitconfirms / hard combos

depends on context
if its someone blatantly new or younger, ill give them some leighway or try to demonstrate certain concepts then ramp shit up to the point where im semitrying
though getting crushed is what everyone will do to you so to spoonfeed you wont do much for your growth
not that getting rolled helps you grow but you should observe how theyre rolling you

>30 second long combo
no you're getting reset a bunch. just learn what resets are and you'll be able to play. you need to train your fundamentals godspeed user

I don’t play fighting games but what would the reaction from the community be if you got matched up with a bot with a certain elo or whatever skill rating they use when the game can’t find a player for your skill level? Especially in these games with small communities, it would be better for new players than getting curbstomped, no?

Not when I'm spending the time putting you into that '30 second long combo', no. Could just be a regular scrub that never blocks for all I know.

Fighting game AI is very easy to manipulate and will never replicate a real match against a human. AI doesn't understand things like frametraps, oki, etc. so it's a very sterile environment. The only thing fighting AI is good for is hitconfirming and combos

Do the tutorials first, they’re actually somewhat helpful in Skullgirls

They want to show off to a newbie and illustrate the sort of things you'll be able to do if you practice.

>make it impossible to get a match as a beginner against someone with a skill level in the same galaxy as you

and you faggots wonder why the scene is dead

Most of these games are too dead to have reasonable matchmaking. It's a loop.
