Literally what is taking them so long to make the next one?
Literally what is taking them so long to make the next one?
Anthem rebuild.
They pissed around making worthless games like Andromeda and Anthem
They had a working build for 4 but EA told them to start over from scratch and make it more like Anthem (always online/semi co-op), so they scrapped it. Apparently it was going to be smaller and tighter than Inquisition.
Bioware has the worst management in any AAA studio, they reboot all their games at least once. Already happened with DA4.
This. This is why you saw a lot of former leads leave Bioware because of dirty ass practices EA forced on them.
They were forced to scrap every idea from the past 4-5 years because of EA. They had to start from scratch because the current model of Dragon Age 4, didn't fit within EA's 'standards'
>make it more like this disaster of a game
I believe it. As sad as that is, I do believe it.
Bioware will be a dead company in less than a year anyway.
Bioware died because all their DAO talent bled out between the chasm of DA2's quality, DAI being a Frostbite hell, then ME3, Anthem, and Andromeda all being massive financial disasters.
No one is left at Bioware except Austin which is a broom closet that keeps TOR people happy with a new lightsaber hilt each month!
EA has once again put a bullet into the long-suffering corpse of a company.
I remember when I first heard that bioware was working on DA4 but then EA made them scrap it for Anthem, I thought "No way, that seems too rediculous even by EA's standards. Certainly they wouldn't do something that dumb"
But then they did. I really hope whatever is eventually DA4 is worthwhile. Despite it's flaws, DAI and Trespasser specifically have me interested in what comes next. But I'm like 90% sure they are gonna blow it again and then they'll be on the chopping block too. All because EA is the devil.
Remember when Activision was universally the hated company because bobby kotick? I miss those days.
DA4 will be structured like Anthem. Players will mainly do multiplayer stuff and in-between those 'missions' they will return to hubs and that is where the story will play out. It will not be anything like previous Dragon Age games. Those games are not profitable enough to bother with. They want live service and consumer ass rape.
Who the fuck wants more Dragon Age? Everything since Awakening has been beyond shit.
They are just now figuring out what went wrong with anthem.
Its not even hyperbole, they are prototyping their design hypothesis.
So you better wait. Unless daddy EA decides it's time to take out the back to show them something.
If you read about the development woes of Anthem it's clear that BioWare is internally a big shitshow and EA, while terrible, is not fully to blame. It's a shitty publisher yes, but current BioWare is an even shittier studio now that everyone worthwhile has left.
EA
How is Inquisition? I've enjoyed Origins and beat it about 3 times but I absolutely HATED #2. It was so small and sloppy compared to Origins.
I own Inquisition and played the intro a couple of years ago but then dropped it for some reason one night and never played it again.
i liked it but for different reasons than origins, namely the dragon fights
It's fun but suffers from single player MMO-itis, and a weak start, you really want to get the fuck out of the Hinterlands fast to not end up wanting to kill yourself
Once you hit In your Heart Shall Burn it steps up a lot
Stop misusing "literally."
Necromancer is dogshit, 0/10
They were midway through making the sequel, then they completley scrapped it and started over.
>make it more like Anthem
>no one likes Anthem
EA execs are fucking retarded.
I don't buy the frostbyte-killed-bioware shit, that's just what the kotaku guy got from his pissant QA tester sources. DAI didn't have any major technical issues; what it did have was a fucking MMO disaster for game and area design.
>Dragon Age Origins
>Dragon Age 2
>Dragon Age Inquisition
Explain
Rift mage is the best you get unlimited mana
Bump
It's another "le chosen one vs. le ancient evil" cliche plot. DA2 spent its entirety setting up a war between mages and templars, and it's resolved offscreen before Inquisition even begins. Then you get 90 hours of soulless shit with only a few good quests sprinkled in.
Capitalism and art do not mix.
For that matter, capitalism and quality don't, either.
> I really hope whatever is eventually DA4 is worthwhile.
event based multiplayer vector like anthem or destiny, solely puposed to sell you, well, probably not lootboxes at this point, but something, and lots of it.
this is not speculation, they said so themselves.
> DAI didn't have any major technical issues;
yeah, because they took forever to iron them out instead of putting time into making a good game.
frostbyte is bad for anything that is not a shooter, even dice said so, and they made it.
Trying to decide if they want to go broke or not
Maybe not on consoles. On PC it was pretty choppy, and the load times were some of the longest I've seen in recent years. It wasn't even like a "one long loadtime at the start" thing like with recent GTAs and RDR2, every time you zone into a new area, there's like a 2 minute+ loading screen. And that was with decent graphics card.
I can't wait for the articles that will come out after DA4 is a shitshow
they're basically rebuilding a game they already rebuilt b/c Anthem was universally hated
