First of all, is it possible? Is there even high quality recordings of the voice acting around? Surely there must be? Is it possible to do rocket surgery that improves the audio of the stuff that is there for sure like the game audio?
>how would it be Action adventure games, all of them. With focus on level traversal but less on puzzles, make action a central aspect. This is not negotiable.
>Who's gonna do it Team Ninja Story is already there so no worries on that front. They never done anything in quite that art style but since the source material is there for inspiration i think they can do it. Action is guaranteed to be great.
Either way this IP is way too good to be left to waste. Someone needs to get on it.
Even if there is a remake of soul reaver they are going to make it like ff7r
Jonathan Fisher
Or worse, modern Tomb Raider/Thief considering they own Eidos
Jaxson Brown
Why? Because one game did it doesn't mean it's the norm. You think they would go to the trouble of using the original audio to then change the story?
Nolan Green
Time travel fuckery is already in the game so it wouldn't be as bad as FF7. That said I still wouldn't trust them to do it justice.
Luis Russell
If it doesnt have any big scale mods (retextures/remodels,etc.) yet it's unlikely that it wont be left to waste. And after Nosgoth failure and the Rune Ragnarok fiasco (a game not LoK related but it's something that could happen to these games since they're not mainstream) i'd prefer these remain untouched than see them revamped as a pile of generic-half baked garbage.
Noah Lee
No. Why would I want a shitty remake?
Tyler Roberts
The problem is that the games honestly do not hold up well. Some like Defiance were already questionable at release.
Oliver Thompson
Gross. I don't want this game to be ruined into a shitty action game.
Jayden Hughes
Me neither, i played Defiance. That's why i want a good action games instead
Ian Ward
Why would you add RPG mechanics to a game that never had them?
Asher Rodriguez
>Even if there is a remake of soul reaver they are going to make it like ff7r make it good?
Eli Torres
How about we toss you into the abyss and never discuss it again? There is absolutly no reason to remake Soul Reaver. The gameplay was fuacking sick.
> Puzzles that required swtiching between both worlds > Life decreased over time > Could pick up enemy weapons > Could use environment variables like sun, water or rocks to kill enemies > Bosses where puzzles themselves > Powers gained from bosses actually unlocked new areas on the world
I´ll take that over the current RPG skill trees, open world and meaningless questing any fucking day. Not to mention story is great, voice acting is great, artstyle is great, music is great. Seriously, why push for a remake just because it´s a bit clunky?
Christian Sanchez
Let the license be. After what they did with Nosgoth The last thing I want are reboots or remasters with ingame shop, season passes and the like. Lets leave it alone, its one of the rare licenses out of my mind not being possed by modern gaming.
>all this questionable things in my game are great >all this other unrelated questionable things that would be in your game for no reason are bad
Brody Cook
I hope they never remake this game They would absolutely butcher it They'd fix the combat but ruin literally every other single aspect about the series that's not a worth it trade and it never will be
John Stewart
I'm really fucking tired of this remake doom and gloom faggotry. If you follow the premise that they go out of their way to use the old voice acting that everyone loves why would they somehow ruin the rest of the game? What is there that is so in danger of ruining? You think they would replace the soundtrack with dubstep or what?
Speaking of which, i don't know how the rights thing would pan out when it comes to Ozar Midrashim. Gotta have that too.
Why not just recast them? There are tons of extremely good VAs in the business, why rely on fossils who openly admitted they never even played the games they voiced?
Charles Morgan
because that would literally be stripping the game of it's soul. Under no circumstances must that happen, i will keep my clunky action and puzzle boxes if it means that.
>who openly admitted they never even played the games they voiced Who the fuck cares? I care if they did a good job or not.
Charles Flores
imagine the coin dialogue except raziel and kain are voiced by liam obrien and troy baker, tell me it sounds like a good idea.
Connor Kelly
Soul Reaver's gameplay is fucking trash, anything would be an improvement. The best game in this series is the first one by a wide margin, and even that hasn't aged well.
As much as I want a remake or modern update, it would probably be shit and not translate well. Sort of like how Gex series has a lot of 90s jokes that dont translate well to modern humor and the devs would probably add some meme shit.
Let it lie dead.
Luis Wood
What the fuck does Legacy of Kain have to do with 90s jokes?
Luke Powell
I don't say this often but even BAMHAM would be *blegh* an imp *huuuuuurrrrr* an improve-ment.
>One of Kain's attacks in Defiance is swinging his two handed sword, left to right at sanic speed, in a fixed horizontal plane, arms completely outstretched. >The sound effect for this is like someone smacking some fat pussy around instead of steel cutting through flesh and blood
You can tell the devs where completely out of their depth.
Hunter Hernandez
It does have a lot of 90s edge
Brody Butler
No it doesn't. You don't even know what that word means
Jace Bell
Raziel swinging the Reaver still has one of the tastiest sfx ever. Not even joking, that swoosh is comfy as hell.
Ethan Miller
you don't
they would fill it with all sorts of nonsense like modern day social commentary, western politics, token blacks, female and tranny vampires, and tacked on DLC/multiplayer
it's for the best if the ip is left alone, user
Jack Howard
I don't think you get how remakes are done nowadays They change everything What made the LoK series so strong was outstanding voice acting, good music, memorable characters, plot points that travel through multiple games, and a plot that doesn't undermine the player's intelligence. So lets say they remake this game with all new visuals, character designs, and updated combat You can't keep the same voice acting in order to do this If you alter cutscenes with new models then you have to use new voice actors to fit with the dialogue You can't have Legacy of Kain without the voice acting Changing that would ruin the game There's no reason to remake it
Josiah Brooks
Really? my memory of it is nothing special. He definitely looks cool with it out though. Raziel has to be one of my favorite character designs of all time, even his name i think is great. If there's a game that allows you to make a character and has energy or spirit blades in it i will make a character called Raziel.
Easton Thomas
>You can't keep the same voice acting in order to do this >If you alter cutscenes with new models then you have to use new voice actors to fit with the dialogue
Okay, you clearly don't know what you're talking about.
