what the hell? How come my game didn't do that? Or is this one of the things added since Alyx got updated to use mods?

This makes me want to drink

can you actually pour it? i remember modelers got similar effects with jiggle bones.

Wait what, I don't remember that. Is it a mod?

I can't get over that. That's so good... what wizard made this shit? It even absorbs light properly and refracts at the meniscus.... and those bubbles... what a badass

Updated a few hours ago user, only reason I haven't put on my headset to play with bottles for an hour was to make this thread.

I saw the 800mb patch, just assumed it was an update to the modding tools.

The bubbles and light/color is nice but the fluid seems to move so spasticly

Imagine where we could've been if it wasn't for consoles and shitty devs/publishers.

Shit looks great fucking hell.

I already finished the game, is there a way to select specific chapters to start? Or do I have to start the game all over again/load a random-ass save I might have?

The day clothing and skin/muscle are finally simulated I'm gonna fucking die of glee.

When you select a new game file it will prompt you to select any chapter/addons you want enabled for the campaign/addon levels

Was very happy when I noticed, just go straight to The North Star chapter youll be in the room with the piano and the bar

Was it bugged before? Kinda weird to add this on an update, this is either an ARG or it was bugged.

What the fuck, that's super cool.

Well normally you'd never have a sealed bottle that isn't filled.

jesus man, is HLA the best looking game currently on the market?

Now, someone can take that fluid simulation tech and apply it to jiggle physics.

Same place we are right now buddy, most pc gamers have worst pc’s than a ps4

Probably a feature that wasn’t finished by release.

we've come far

Oh neat, that'll be another thing for me to do while I continue my second run, gnome run.
I still hate this fucker for Episode 2 and L4D2.

PSVR2 and PS5 when? I’m a PCFagutt but I would be happy to have more people playing this

It looks good even on low settings, didn't even notice it was on the lowest when I started playing until quite a few hours later

At points but it's kind of inconsistent. I find that VR plays a lot of tricks, because sometimes when you have a focal point, it looks completely convincing and real, like when the metrocops are moving at the beginning of the game. At other times, not so much. A lot of the outdoor areas have pretty visible low poly models and pop-in.

It's the meticulous detail in the lighting that sells it.

To those that played it, was HLA worth the wait or do you think Valve could've easily done other shit in between improving VR and making the game?

Did it "redeem" them for you, just a step in a right direction but still very critical or do you still have a distaste for Valve (assuming you ever did)?

You don't really need advanced simulation for that. Just use a springbone and set it up right. Barely takes performance or effort. Hell most engines like Unreal and even Unity have addons you can just download from the store in 2 minutes and one-click apply to whatever you want jiggling.

It's probably a cosmetic or political decision in most game not to implement it. There's no other excuse.

Ive been following Valve/Source Engine/Rendering Technology/VR for years before it came out.

Seeing the finished product of a company I enjoy following made me happy to begin with. That said, I think it's fantastic and it genuinely makes me sad that because of the buy in price not enough people can experience it.

GoldSrc/Source Engine games were a big part of my childhood and seeing a continuation of this and the modding I'm starting to see with Dota 2 and HL:A is something I've been hearing Valve wanting to foster for years when they weren't making games at all.

They took it too safe for my taste. It should have been revolutionary in a way where they try out extremes. Instead we got happy clicky teleporty movement, can't even slide or fall down anywhere so as to not cause nausea under no circumstances oh nooo! We got super fucking basic gun-handling not even something 2 handed and liveless weapon optics with a magic laserpointer instead of actually making weapons work, feel and look realistic.

I just wish they'd have had the balls to really make a cutting edge VR title. Support legtrackers too and have a better player-physics system like Boneworks but actually working and not clunky.

It should have been a launch game for the Index. And it's definitely a big step in the right direction of actually making games again. I like that they also seemed more open to communicating about it too. It's an excellent game and I hope they keep doing VR stuff because it feels like a real technological advancement.

Valve can fuck off with their bullshit, they held this series hostage for almost two fucking decades, giving us lieing horse shit every few years about "how these things take time, you know" and then when they finally put out a game, it was to try and recoup some of the losses they took from developing a shitty tv that sits in your fucking face that costs 500 fucking dollars even a couple years later. If this was some form of real vr where i could actually have sensations i would have buckled and bought one of their meme headsets but its fucking bullshit. Their entire fanbase waited for a new game and gabe effectively pulled out his dick and pissed all over us. frankly this shit is almost as bad as him trying to spin paid mods as a good thing.

Have you played many workshop maps? I just finished the Halo level it's crazy good.

A couple of other good ones

I hope people make more open levels where you have to explore areas and find keycards to access different areas, it reminds me of those old duke/shadow warrior levels.

SFM 2 with liquid physics when?

Bioware is just lazy and incompetent

already out my friend

Damn, people are making good looking maps really quickly.
