Pardon...

It's your fault for being stupid enough to hope.

This gives me hope. In this screenshot he's stating his species, not his actual name. Almost along the lines of: "Me? I'm just a human." I like to think that when Mario meets him, he's just "Bob-omb"---another disposable servant, but eventually he finds a name for himself after journeying with Mario. I think this game could potentially have better character development than TTYD.

going from 0% character development to 50% < going from 20% character development to 100%

What's true character development? An old roughened pirate with a forced tragic backstory that came straight out of fanfiction.net, or a brainwashed soldier slowly realizing that he has free will and identity? TOK seems pretty based to me.

That's a real nice thought user. It's so nice that it would make this game's characters completely surpass anything else that has been in the series thus far. However, I want you to take a moment and imagine the room full of middle aged Japanese men who are calling the shots here. The same men who were in charge of Color Splash and Sticker Star. Now do you think it's more realistic that these men would go through the trouble of writing a fully fledged story for a bob-omb and presumably the rest of the characters, or do you think they'll do jack shit.

Nigga what YOU just typed is literally the fanfiction.

TOKfags are in denial

NO ITS FUCKING STICKER SPLASH 3.0 ITS GOING TO BE FUCKING SHIIIIIIIIIIT REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

lol right on time
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE STICKER STAR REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

In the US version it's his name. There is no "other name." Stop lying to yourself.

you want the same exact things everyone else is asking for but you're too deep in denial to admit it

Just bitch about Miyamoto and make the "no real scottsman" argument already for the 5th thread today, we know you're going to

Yes, but Mario has just met him. He calls himself Bob-omb because he was never given a true name and he must find a true name. That's way more interesting than shoehorning a stock character like "Admiral Bobbery" into the story.

how is a generic with no set personality more interesting than a character with a defined past that implies a bigger world beyond mario
its an interesting concept too, i won't say it isn't and in the incredibly slim chance it is i'll praise it- but i really don't see how its any better unless you really fucking hate mario games having any underlining story or world

>HE DOESN'T HAVE A HAT HE'S TOO FUCKING BLAND, A HAT WOULD MAGICALLY MAKE HIM NOT BLAND NOT THE WRITING

My idea is better because it has context.

>le mario character in a hat
>SOUL

didn't say anything even close to that sperglord in fact if you actually read it you'd see i like the concept
bobbery has context. he builds up that rougeport isn't just a place for scum but a wide array of far-flung individuals.

You have no opinion.

You randomly find Bobbery in a cave where he complains about his dead wife and then you have to go find his dead wife's letter.

not only does that not have a single bit of bearing on what i'm talking about its not even remotely true
a cave? the fuck are you talking about? did you actually play TTYD? at all?

And what am I looking at here?

So NoA is already confirmed to have fucked up the English translation and the game isn't even out yet?

It doesn't really matter if he has a unique name or not, the writing and development will determine if he's a great character or not.

Best case scenario, they let us color out partner

"un" is "a"

He isn't saying "I'm Bob-omb"
He's saying "Im a Bob-omb"
It's implying he could potentially get a real name

Just give me a Charging Chuck or better yet bring back the Chomp from the 3DS Beta

>the fanfic i made up is better than the "fanfic" written by the actual game devs for the actual game

how the fuck do you guys form a solid opinion on this game from this. I have not played paper mario since the third game but I actually do not understand. please explain

This could be a result of the simplistic language of Mario games in general and a poor translation. The masculine and feminine identifiers can be placed in front of words in most latin based languages (French, German, Italian, Spanish) but they aren't neccesary. So what I'm saying is that it still means 'i am bob-omb' but the un was placed their accidently. People in Italian called me 'un caccatore' which just meant 'hunter', since I had an unusual name in Italian, similar to how bob-omb is an unusual name. This is what I remember from my time taking 4 years or Italian. I could be wrong though. Perhaps a native speaker could elaborate on this.

What exactly is a Bob-omb doing, riding a Gondola into the Ninja Town in the Himalayas

In Japanese he just says Ore Bombuhei which is literally I bob-omb. Japanese is a stupid language that cuts own random words and relies on context to figure out what they're saying. We unfortunately do not have that context right now. But I think it's more likely that he is saying he is a bob-omb rather than he's named bob-omb because the latter makes no sense.

Nintendo wants every single Mario character established to just have one variant or very minimun differences like color variants for the sake of brand recognition, when a child sees a Bob-Omb in any merch or media they will recognize it just as Bob-Omb, they can't just give each Toad or Goomba or any other character their own name.

We already have an Explorer Toad and Kamek/Bowser Jr, who are going to work on their own

Bob-omb and the others, it's hard to really say what they'll go for.

Well the latter is the one that NoA went with.

How well do you think a nameless character is written? What level of delusion is this?

Treehouse is a bunch of dumb gorilla niggers
