Is it worth getting into WoW in 2020?

tldr retail is infinitely better in every category, Mythic+ dungeons are harder than vanilla raids, and PvP is so vastly superior in retail that it's actually an objective fact

just wait for the next expansion around the corner, trying to catch up right now is hell and even more so with this gay ass azerite system.
if they put another azerite/artifact "progression" in the next expansion im just skipping it desu

Honestly I just started playing a few weeks ago and I'm at 445 ilvl, and multiple other lvl 100-120s
You may not be able to catch up to people max ilvl (actually you can but it'd likely be for naught with SL right around the corner) but you can take advantage of the double exp and double rep event going on until SL

That's fine, I really don't blame you. I shit on retail since I stopped my sub after Cata as well, like so many did and I still shit on retail for a lot of shit that I see that I hate. MMOs are in a terrible state right now but retail is still the best thing out there if you like competitive PvP
Also I'm not trying to lure you back lol if you're EU you're better off playing one of the many private servers out there anyway

just started playing on warmane wotlk server, really having fun by not taking it seriously.
classic is too raw, retail is too far gone. waiting on BC retail

only problem with private servers is the rampant hacking, it makes competitive arena pretty much not a thing (hacking in general causing duping etc)

The social aspect for Classic is better. It actually incentivizes you to socialize with other player's instead of in retail where everyone just silently goes through LFD.

I had this experience when classic first dropped, the first few months of it being out were like this
Now? Not at all, people are no more or less friendly or social in my experience than they are in retail. Everyone just boosts 1-59, so the whole "1-59 is the main part of the game" is out the fucking window
If you missed the initial fresh server hype, classic is just as LFD-like as retail without the convenience

the launch experience was also a huge disappointment in my opinion
people started spell cleaving dungeons since second week and every retard was obsessed with muh BiS. Took me hours of begging and whispering to make a group for ST because people only want to do meta dungeons

You have great incentives for socialising and finding a guild/communities in retail. You cannot 'just join LFD' for high-end M+ or mythic raids. Hell, even in heroic raid or low-key M+ sometimes you just have to communicate depending on the group.

You are literally what's wrong with WoW. FF14 has the same fucking model and people are communicating there just fine. And so do people in retail WoW, of course, but you have to communicate for that to matter - something local neets like you just physically can't do.

Yeah, classic suffers from all the same woes retail does, actually even more so in my experience. The game is ALL about BiS, the meta, and speedrunning everything it's honestly a joke. The content is so easy, guilds set their own challenges by speed running lmfao

It's hilarious people think LFR = endgame content, or that you can queue for mythics. LFR is always a gigantic shitshow, a friend of mine had to do LFR for a quest and it took his group 5 hours to down an easy ass boss because of how how it is to do without proper coordination. That's why no one actually uses LFR except for quests
