9am PST/12PM EST there's a livestream, will post link soon
Having a VR headset with better screens and cameras doesn't mean shit when there still aren't any games for it
>direct competitor to the index
why are they selling it on steam then?
It's a partnership between Microsoft and Valve if I'm not wrong.
I hope it's a bit cheaper, but I'm not holding my breath.
Why is Valve the only one that's figured out that having straps across the wands makes it much more comfortable?
no idea, but as far as i can tell it was developed with steamVR in mind and has optional lighthouse
Maybe competition is what they want, such that different VR experiences at different price points and overall affordability comes to the market
I'm imagining they would do this to sell Source 2 as a VR-ready engine
The Steam platform is only getting richer with compatibility through Steam VR and Steam Input
neat that they're using the same plush material as the index
it even has the same audio strap and speakers
>next gen
>inside-out tracking
laughing my fucking ass off
in the future, all VR will have inside out once the accuracy of that tech becomes at least as good as lighthouse-style tech is due to accessibility and ease of setup. but modern inside-out isn't actually as bad as it'd seem, watch this video for proof.
i agree, but oculus is definitely banking on inside-out and it requires zero setup unlike lighthouse. if you want mass adoption you need inside out

So they are revealing the reveal? Lame.
So I can't be the only person who clicked on this thread because the thumbnail looks like a close up a massive pair of breasts concealed by a tight black shirt, right?
the specs + release date, most likely
coopetition
bigger VR gets the better for them
>if you want mass adoption
honestly mass adoption would be the death of VR for everyone except the company wallets.
once underaged, 3rd worlders and genuine football mom normies flood the market it will all be over.
hopefully be then there will have been a new technology leap that we can jump to in order to get away.
Valve is more interested in selling games than manufacturing hardware. They'll happily support any company that wants to jump into the VR space as long as they're not going to be creating their own little store like Facebook.
haha
its valves fault that facebook created their own walled off store
>SteamVR
Meh. I hate how pretty much all VR games require either installing Steam or making an Oculus account.
>manufactures shitting out a gazillion headsets because they know VRdrones will by anything and its literally a gold rush right now.
>still no game developer that wants to go 10 feet near it
STOP FUCKING BUYING INTO THIS SHIT IF YOU WANT MORE GAMES. THEY ARE JUST GOING TO PUMP OUT MORE DEMO TRASH IF YOU KEEP BUYING!
Make it 300eurodollars and i will buy it.
>installing steam
how else would you like to play them? would you like each game dev to make their own proprietary VR driver software and to just buy it off their own independant website? vr would be dead without steamvr
>dont buy something if you want more of it
take an economics class you low IQ weirdo
>how else would you like to play them?
I don't have to install Steam or create an account to play games with keyboard, mouse or gamepad.
>willl still cost 700-1000 dollars plus tax and shipping
Nah
a lot of games are sold exclusively on steam, so yes, yes you do. but the main issue is that SteamVR is great universal VR driver, what you're suggesting is that each game dev make their own unique VR driver for some arbitrary reason rather than unifying them on one platform. just sounds like retardation to me.
So how is the pirate scene on VR?
Or do VR fags pay up front for a game that they never played before?
>VR with keyboard, mouse or gamepa
Pleb
SteamVR literally runs without steam if you just copy files. It's literally recomended way to run headsets for corporate users.
where are you getting that from? or are you just pulling shit out of your ass?

Filthy jew. I want better quality not more shit
Im looking at it from a end consumers perspective
>a lot of games are sold exclusively on steam, so yes, yes you do.
What makes you think I play Steam-only games?
>what you're suggesting is that each game dev make their own unique VR driver for some arbitrary reason rather than unifying them on one platform
Just like pretty much any other piece of hardware? Literally hell on Earth.
I pulled it out of your mom's ass.
Generally for myself, one person in my group of friends takes the plunge and then gives a review and everyone else gets to base their choice off of that.
But overall piracy is just the same VR or not. Skyrim VR was my personal favorite one since you literally could copy a handful of files and slap them into the Special Edition and you were done. So that $60 price tag, if you already own the special edition, is for like 10 MBs worth of data.
>HP
oh boy it's going to have inside out tracking, controllers with AAA batteries, and probably a walled garden or some other stupid shit
WMR is such a trash fire
