I'm not excited at all, because nothing I've seen has been more than a suggestion that they're returning to the style of the old game.

I can't say for sure that the game will be bad, of course. If it gets good reviews, then I'll probably buy it. However I'm not very optimistic.

Pretty excited but I'm extremely poor so it'll probably take a while to save for it, I only get two games per year

i cannot imagine being so fucking assmad over a point you misunderstood you took the time to draw an entire parody image

I don't get it. Shouldn't the brand worshipper be the one who isn't asking questions and telling everyone else to not judge it until they blow $60 on it?

This is so dense. I love it.

>charming visuals
look! charming visuals!
better than an actual stylized enviorment by far

Actually he has a point

>a game doesn't have to have good gameplay
What? If the game isn't fun or engaging, what the hell is the point of buying the thing? If its so hard-carried by music whats stopping me from just listening to the ost for free?

PUT THE DAMN CLOTHES ON

If I wanted a game with muh ''wholesome'' cute arts n crafts aesthetitcs I'd play a yoshi game.

what point? that people wanted whatever the EARLY BETA partner was inevitably going to get turned into and didn't want a generic bomb?
you'd have to have been functionally retarded to think that chain chomp would have remained devoid of detail. then again you'd also have to have been fucking dumb as hell to think they'd actually gut the entire gameplay system

To be completely fair it's not like the gameplay of the Thousand Year Door, Super Paper Mario or even the original was anything to write home about.
It's just turn based combat, which is always boring. Yeah it lends itself a certain spice by having the action commands but they're incredibly shallow mechanics. All other gameplay in the first two were just walk left and right to talk to people.
Super Paper Mario put a much bigger emphasis on exploration and messing with the environment which was increased in Color Splash. The combat is always the least interesting part of Paper Mario games.

I think I need another trailer and maybe a demo of the first level before I put any faith in it.

The series is a joke. And I mean that in a literal sense: Everything about it is a joke or gag. The world itself is a paper joke. The story is a paper joke. All of the characters are paper jokes. At some point Miyamoto and Tanabe decided that the entire series was only ever loved because everything was made of paper and because it was "funny" even though the first three games were never remembered for either of those things.

Why are so you heated? It just makes sense to point out people lavishing the beta with praise for a featureless partner get so steamed when the new one has featureless partners.
Who hurt you?

Gamecube =/= Nintnendo as a whole.

so we should have completely remove all combat and replace it with some stupid gimmicky item-based bullshit? are you fucking retarded? like actually medically diagnosed?

if we're just going to ignore points i'm going to go ahead and just call you a faggot instead and save myself the time

Looks like shit.

>A chain chomp fighting alongside Mario! We're probably going to go back to the old style of Paper Mario! And since it's beta footage, they'll probably give him a fun design like that Monty Mole king by the time the game releases!
>Oh, it's a bob-omb, but he has no fuse. And his name is Bob-omb. Sounds exactly like the kind of "Clever" writing we've been getting for the last few games. And since we're only two months from release, I highly doubt they're going to do anything interesting with him at this point. Especially since everything else in the trailer has that NSMB homogenized look to it.
It's almost like they're two different scenarios with two different backdrops. Go commit Poision Mushroom Bingo.

the combat in the first 2 games was one of the best things about those, it was simple but very enjoyable and allows for a lot of experimentation.

I do agree the exploration aspect wasn't as good as it could be, but i don't think SPM improved of it, if anything it made it worse, most of the game boils down to walking and swaping to mario to use 3D.

The entire state of nu-PM is Intelligent Systems fault. Miyamoto didn't work on any of the games or have any control over their production, he was nothing more than a consultant and even then he didn't tell them to rework the game, only that it was too similar to TTYD.

The way Mario's head is angled here bugs the everloving fuck out of me. His head is connected to his body by his fucking chin.
Was it ever shown at this angle in earlier games or was shit like this always there?

I have to say

I’m cautiously optimistic...

Why the fuck are you guys acting this aggressive? Read the OP then try to work backwards into how you got this worked up. We're talking about a video game.

The combat of the original two games was oversimplified, boring, and on kiddie mode. I'm not saying Super, Sticker, or Color Splash were improvements but I'm glad they were different.

Origami King unironically looks better than the 3DS beta. The beta still had the retarded sticker gimmick, and all of the areas in the screenshots were just horizontal hallways. If anyone actually thinks that origami king has less potential then they are braindead.

That's OK with me

>i'm cautiously optimistic
You sound like a fucking abused wife walking around with a black eye insisting that her husband's going to get a new job, quit drinking and everything will get better.

The combat in the first 2 was simple but fun, it wasn't so simple a baby could do it just by mashing and there was nothing fundamentally wrong with it outside MAYBE perfect guards in TTYD and even then the timing for those is pretty strict outside a few attacks.

the combat after TTYD only got worse, Color Splash in particular has a really bad battle system.

Not him but the combat engines of those games are literally designed for children with bright large visuals and badges to make the game trivial. You couldn't lose a fight unless you tried

News flash, dipshit, SS/CS had even more simplified and braindead combat. Them simply being different from the classics doesn't change their degree of complexity.

What's with Nintendo's fetish for arts and crafts?

I'm cautiously optimistic too, and I haven't bought a single paper mario since SPM

they are literally less complex versions of the first two games
you're being responded to with anger because you don't seem to have actually played anything you're talking about

No? Having big button prompts doesn't inherently make the game easy. It's clear you have't played the game because there are fights you could easily lose in.
