What do you guys think?

I'm having fun so far, but I'm worried the cave aesthetic will ware thin in the near future.

I'm eyeballing this game but i have no friends to play with. Is it fun solo or with randoms?

It looks like the levels could get labyrinthine in the mid-late game. I think communication might be key, and nobodies spoken yet.
Only done 5-6 games though.

Unironically the most fun and longest lasting bro-op game, EVER made.

>the cave aesthetic will ware thin in the near future.
Hasn't happened to me so far. I usually get tired of "this kind of" coop games, but DRG literally plays its own ball game. It's stock full of SOUL, and the gameplay loop itself is FUN.

You can also fine tune the challenge to match your own preferences and level, but generally what you lack in gear and skills, you can compensate with SKILLZ.

>Is it fun solo or with randoms?
Yes, which is rare for a co-op game like this.
The in-game lore and general attitude helps a lot. "Leave no dwarf behind!", and all is well.

Best thing about DRG is that you don't even need to necessarily use a mic to communicate effectively. Just spam your Laser Pointer everywhere, salute like a brother, and tap X to catch folks attention.

>It looks like the levels could get labyrinthine in the mid-late game
They are as "labyrinth" as you want from the day 1. You got clear mission length and cave complexity indicators on your map.

Different mission types also have their own "typical" cave structures, like Point Extraction often being one large, open area with small branches around it, while simple Mining Missions can have you spiraling further and further down a semi-linear corridor until you reach the chamber of wonders.

The Biomes also add their own flavor and challenges to each mission.

t: 550 hours clocked today. Started last fall. Love the shit out of this game.

Gold-star vet here.
Newbs playing with other newbs may miss on the fancier features of the game if they don't love to experiment hard.

Should I host a rookie training server?

The quality of random people who play this game is pretty high. They might not all be skilled, but rarely do I encounter shitlords. Still, best with Bros, I can just never fill a party.

Solo gets old quick. Playing with randoms is a crapshoot but generally a good time as long as you're not playing on the highest difficulty. All in all the game is totally worth the price.

It's OK alone, you even get a fancy AI partner to help you, but obviously the game shines when playing with a gang of dwarfs (humans), be they as numerous or skilled as they come.
With a full team, you really get to utilize all the fancy features the game has to offer to solve the environmental puzzles and combat situations.

The atmosphere and team spirit of the game is on totally different level compared to many others titles.

hardest difficulty is what keeps it exciting
hazard 4 is good I guess but 3 and below are just a snorefest since you can just plow through everything

4 is what I aim for, but half of the time random teammates are smooth brains and ruin it. Hazard 3 is sort of boring but generally doable even with morons.

You're exaggerating a great deal.
Even at lvl 200, Haz 3 is the level we choose if we want to have a fairly chill experience with some risk of oopsies, where as Haz4 is for serious gayman. 5 is literally too tryhard to be funny for anything else than achievement hunts.

Haz 5 salvage and extraction can feel completely broken at times even with a full squad of veterans.

>where as Haz4 is for serious gayman. 5 is literally too tryhard to be funny for anything else than achievement hunts.
Do you genuinely believe this? 4 is a complete joke most of the time and I have no problems doing with randoms even at lvl 30
Deep Dive goes up to 4 on the third mission

>Do you genuinely believe this?
Yes.

>Haz4 complete joke
No.

>no problems doing with randoms at lvl 30
lies or damn good luck.

>DD goes up to 4 on third mission
it's 4 from the get-go, hence the Promotion requirement.

Haz3 is for casual gaming while drunk
Haz4 is for serious gaming while drunk

>it's 4 from the get-go, hence the Promotion requirement.

Game is fun but it gets old fast. Best played in short bursts.

>Game is fun but it gets old fast.
Been playing it for nearly a year now, every week, and it's still fun as fuck.

Personally, I think the cave aesthetic is comfy as fuck and it just becomes more identifiable the more you play.

Chock-full, not stock full, user.

Deep Rock has the friendliest community ive ever seen in this hobby.

Left 4 Dead players will eat you alive.

worth pirating?

The game is a fantastic friend-time enabler. I have 2 regular friends to play with so we go duo or trio and have a blast every time.

I only have about 35 hours in it and personally I think the caves are a little repetitive, but its the gameplay loop that keeps me hooked.

I wish for caves though, they would get a little more complex like more branching paths, more unique environment effects/enemies, and maybe more ores types?

It's the only game I like to play when drinking/drunk becasue I can do nothing but spam V and still not get any shit.
It's undemanding and forgiving so I can just chill out and dig some gold and shit - the community is really chill.

Don't think it's engaging enough that I'd get hooked on it though

>I wish for caves though, they would get a little more complex like more branching paths
Go grab a 3-length and 3-complexity cave in Dense Biozone. Enjoy being lost for hours.

>I've only played on Haz2! - The post

even haz 5 is pretty forgiving
the game is not very hard

I normally play on 3, again I like it because that difficulty is undemanding.

I didn't say there aren't harder difficulties but that doesn't suit my purpose of playing to chill out when drunk.

So drink my peepee and call me Susanne

You don't get tired of the cave aesthetic, but you do get tired of fighting yet another wave in egg missions.

Look at this Haz1 babby!

I bought it on 1.0 day and have 73 hours so far, it's really fun

Game is dogshit solo

The game's too easy for anyone to get pissed about it, also the aesthetic is friendly.

>Trading Drillers best weapon for funny freeze shit

uhh hello, cringe department?
