There was a second trailer
youtube.com
But that was still over 2.5 years ago.
i am not familiar with the series. What's the difference between SMT and Persona and how is Persona a spin-off?
free rent
smt mainlines are inferior to persona except for the soundtrack
one is a grindy barebones dunegeon crawler and the other is a jrpg with dating sim elements written by people who read the back of a book about Freud and Jung
Persona is highschool waifu trash, SMT is more of a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk scenario
SMT is the original mainline series and Persona originated from it. Instead of demons and angels killing each other in a post apocalyptic setting in a battle between chaos and law, it's high schoolers living their life with the gameplay dungeon crawling of SMT with demons summoned for battles.
Mainline has better atmosphere and also dungeon design excluding 4. It took until P5 for them to finally do real dungeons and they're still only average at best and nothing compared to usual SMT dungeon design.
so the only difference is the setting and persona is more popular just because of highschool waifus, correct?
Once they finish the game they're going to bash out like 2/3 more real fucking quick I bet.
SMT games are boring to be honest, just like Persona.
Yeah I guess you could say that.
SMT is focused more on combat, fusioning demons and dungeon crawling. Also, the choices you are given to get different endings. Persona from 3 and onward is half that (in many cases, its a light version of smt in those respects) and half high-school life simulator/romantic vn.
Persona became the mainline series almost a decade ago.
pretty much
>friend dropped smt sj because he got destroyed while trying to do a pacifist run
>pacifist run
Is that even possible?
It's a combination of "Slice of Life highschool adventure" and "Waifuism"
P5 BTFOs every SMT dungeon, it's not even close. SMT III and "JIMENEZ" had especially shit dungeons.
Didn't Atlus say they'll announce news about this game this year?
Don't worry I'm sure they'll reveal the game....unless covid ruined all of those plans and the game is further delayed.
SMT is a series of hyper repetitve grind crawlers with the exact same 'plot' and the exact same 3 shitty 'choices' every game.

Gee, I wonder why...
Persona has this anime-y thing to it, more like a visual novel. It has this calendar system, and side activies, specially of the type that trigger sequences between characters to develop bonds between them. But the ending is the same either way.
Name one place where you grind in SMT IV.
meant for
>P5 BTFOs every SMT dungeon
P5 has shit dungeons, atleast SMT dungeons are somewhat tricky, the ones in P5 are easy as hell
>dropped a game after trying an autistic playthrough
He isnt a smart kid, eh?
Shinjuku
ALL, literally all dungeons are super easy in all SMT games so it's irrelevant. And even then P5 is the only one other than SMT III to have some challenge.
Why the asspain?
Grind where and for what? I never grinded and easilly beat the game. MC as a mage is too OP to grind.
>atleast SMT dungeons are somewhat tricky
Well they're a series of hallways and teleporters. It's not exactly tricky but it is a slog as you just have to progress through trial and error as the high encounter rate of mobs whittle down your resources.
>pacifist run
did he try to talk down every encounter?
Amazing
a lot less unecessary dialogue, a lot more focus on actual gameplay and a much better gameplay loop
persona is really just SMT-light, with focus on visual novel aspects and a lot of the combat is all-out-attack spam, while SMT is more focused on good combat and dungeon crawling like others have said
you also don't have a fixed party of people but rather you and your always-changing demons, kind of like pokemon but more hardcore and you're using all the demons at once
