If you remove everything except the actual game part from a video game, does it hold up enough to be called art?
Are video games art?
>If you remove everything except the actual visual part from a movie, does it hold up enough to be called art?
yes.
but games reduced to single player console shlock obviously have no artistic
Uhm, yes?
then there's your answer
Any performance of a task with the intent of expressing creativity is artwork.
I'm certain at this point Zig Forums is the only place on the entire internet that still has this retarded argument.
That's all Zig Forums is nowadays, just the same handful of threads on loop.
This objectively. Whether something is good art is another argument entirely.
So are sports art?
This basically implies literally anything is art.
Dumbest fucking thing ever.
Video games will never be art
I like ice-cream.
No seriously, if you told me there were 5 actual people here at 20 bots I would believe it.
Movies are moving pictures. Pictures are not a films original creation.
That's faggot shit. I don't even ask that the books I read be called "art," because it's a term that's been coopted by fags and hence of no use to me, save to clijically refer to the assets of a larger production.
Apply to be a janitor and then watch the discord. It's like game of thrones up in there.
Wdym
Gay cowboys and abrupt black-out endings. That's art amirite?
Mods with agendas, Janitors sucking dick for good boy points, the usual.
I've seen enough art that I wouldn't consider being called art a compliment or something to strive for
>This basically implies literally anything is art.
That's correct. Either everything is art, or nothing is.
Gameplay removed from narrative and audio-visual elements is not art. Gameplay itself cannot evoke but a few minor emotions and cannot have any sort message or meaning by itself.
Not everything is black and white you narcissistic cunt.
This is your brain on liberalism
>lets make a video and just make the player play on top of it being unable to interact with anything
shit gaming
Raid Legends?
i was talking about OP . but i remember God of war did it too , dunno what the fuck is raid legends
i fucking despise climbing sequences in "games". It's such boring shit. When climbing sequences were originally introduced they were made purely to hide loading sequences. THEY ARE NOT MEANT TO BE GAMEPLAY, AND THEY ARE NO LONGER NECESSARY.
Write a definition for art.
Every 'established' art piece must fit within your definition.
God of War did it to hide loading level assets. It was a workaround for technical limitations.
Define art.
i remember noticing it during poseidon at gow3
tell me what loading screen was hiddin the poseidon fight while the same video repeated over and over on the background?
by the time GOW3 rolled around the climbing sequences were an anachronism poorly used by lazy devs. They're garbage and they don't belong in games anymore without some innovation like in VR climbing games. SOTC is one of the only games that did proper gameplay mixed with climbing and notice they used a very gamey "grip meter" to help achieve that.
Are you saying that all depictions of the naked body are intended for pornographic consumption? Your "opinion" could easily be applied to a plethora of other subjects ruining what little subtleties exist as identifiers. Your logic is flawed and posting a definition would do nothing to sway your world view or anyone else for that matter.
>Are you saying that all depictions of the naked body are intended for pornographic consumption?
No.
Then not everything is art... oh so obviously.
>Then not everything is art...
Yes it is.
Why don't you ask a real question, you fucking retard? Same dumb pointless thread every fucking time, just people arguing over the definition of art.
