Microsoft is being extremely consumer friendly, but will any of these practices actually sell Xboxes?

Part of me thinks they won't. Stuff like backwards compatibility and cross gen exclusives for the first year benefit people who already have Xbox more than anyone interested in buying one.

>gaming as a subscription service is consumer friendly
>paid online is consumer friendly
shitbox will always be shit.

will it work with original xbox disks?
can I put mech assault in and play it?

Game pass is consumer friendly to be honest and customers are eating it up

10 million subscribers

It plays of Xbox disks as long as they're on the list of supported back compat games that were available on the xbone. I don't think mech assault is on that list

>blah blah blah halo, gears, forza
nobody gives a fuck about those boomer franchises anymore.

*Americans are eating it up

People still care about forza

It's the best racing franchise currently

>Mexicans and white kids are eating it up

forza is on pc. nobody is going to buy an incelbox to play forza.

This. Notice how they don't mention halo anymore because halo reach, 4 and 5 were so bad.

They’d be the best if they had good exclusives. Game pass basically gives you everything good for a few dollars a month

This

Good exclusives will make both back compat and game pass mean much more as people will care about the games that have back compat for future gens and games that will drop day one on game pass

Halo reach was good bro

Sorry you live in austerityland, here we actually have spending money.

>backwards compatibility
That will always benefit new customers, no matter if it's Sony, MS, or Nintendo, because they won't have to wait for devs to put out their titles made specifically for the new console and can just buy a game they always wanted to play from the previous console

well that sucks.

This is a shill post

Most Xbox games are multiplat what PlayStation gamer would buy a Xbox for back compat when they likely have their previous consoles and can thus play PS3 or PS4 multiplats on next gen hardware instead of getting the next gen console that will play new PlayStation exclusives

Hes saying Microsoft has the wrong strategy for next gen and PlayStation will likely prevail. How is he a shill

They should consider making their online free to really compete with Sony. Any existing subscribers should get extra benefits or even a refund. Would probably also make xbots feel better about playing online on their system while pc players play the same games online for free

You didn't get my point
I'm saying backwards compatibility, if a system has it, STILL benefits new customers too and not just returning customers

Never gonna happen. They make most of their money from the Xbox platform off of subscriptions and that was true before game pass even existed. Not to mention most console gamers are indoctrinated to paying for online once Sony and now even Nintendo did it it truly became the norm. Console players don't care that they have to pay for Xbox live. They're not complaining.

half of those will get canceled, and it will be the most interesting ones too.

then all you're left with is halo, gears and forza.

IMAGINE being stupid enough to fall for the microshit bait & switch twice in a row

It should sell more than the XB1 which will sell more than the SNES in its lifetime but it won't be #1 since fifa worlders buy only Sony systems.

>stating facts is now moving goalposts
their big reveal event hasn't even happened and you are ALREADY coping and pre-emptively damage controlling. KEK.

another losing gen for the SHITbox.

I know Xbox has a long history of canceling games but there is no reason for them to cancel any of those games. The whole point of bringing studios under their banner was to make games exclusive for Xbox*. Most of their cancelled games like scalebound were made by second or third party devs and that is why they were cancelled Microsoft and the devs couldn't come to an agreement for whatever reason. They have the full financial backing of Microsoft and Xbox now as Xbox games studios.

Ironically Xbox cancelled a game obsidian wanted to make before years ago and now they've acquired obsidian.

*Also on pc

Im only worried about the D-Pad.

Maybe that's Sega's big announcement? They're making the Saturn d-pad standard for all consoles going forward.
