If you really want to play Splatoon, yes. Splatoon 3 isn't coming out for a long time.

People are still playing the original Splatoon. You can bet your ass Splat2 is alive and well. Especially since they had that anniversary splatfest recently.
It has a decent main campaign, a fantastic DLC campaign and if you enjoy the multiplayer modes you could play it for a really long time.

It's alive and well. You won't get to enjoy the slow drip feed of new content but you'll have a great time. The story modes alone would be worth the price of entry, but the main online mode is great and Salmon Run is really fun too.
