ITT: Eras that don't get enough attention in video-games
Seriously, why is there so little Vietnam games?
Back in Nam
American devs don't like facing the reality that America lost
>best vietnam game is made by czech developers
kek
America didn't technically "lose".
They knew they were eventually going to lose so they just bailed before that happened
I'd call a complete withdrawal after failing to achieve the intended goal of stopping gommunism losing
I'd equate it to a bar fight where some jumped up asian used shady tactics to try and cripple the american, but the american realized it and said "fuck that, not fighting these dirty bastards" then ran away, only to fuck them up in court way later on
>"fuck that, not fighting these dirty bastards"
I feel like after 10~ years you lose the right to pretend you said that
The higher command was fucking stupid in nam. We should of did divide and conquer, not body count. Plus we would not invade north nam. The fear of Russia and China joining the war.
Now listen here you little fucker, I was face down in the MUD in NAM before your little hwhite ass was born. We damn well said it as that little pussy FORD ran away, tail betwixt his legs
but Nixon ordered the withdrawal
I hate the vietnam war. it pisses me off so much that we backed the cuck french when all ho chi minh wanted was to make vietnam like america.
>make vietnam like america.
sounds like commie talk to me
Nixon?
More like Nixon them troops straight out the battle-zone when WE COULDA GOT THE JOB DONE
remember when we got the job done on two fronts in like four years in World War Double
Get lost, draft dodger
Yes indeed my good sir. If only Roosevelt was still around today.
four more terms
for who?
Roosevelt, duh
The Korean War. Imagine this: The first major armed conflict of the Cold War. A full-on clash between Democracy and Communism. The already archaic weapons of World War II going up against new technology. The first American war with racially-integrated combat units, blurring the line between avoiding others out of prejudice, or relying on anyone who's on your team to pull through. Still resonates in current discourse regarding the Korean peninsula. Raised questions as to whether or not America is capable of being a global super-power. All the dramatic beats of war and its brutality. And it never got a game, I'd like one.
Who the fuck is Roosevelt?
This guy.
>Posts portrait of Robert De La Niro
Good joke pal lol
>game turns into shooting gallery when china joins in
It's a vaguely controversial setting and is sort of in this weird limbo where the tech level is a mix of modern and WWII era that confounds designers. If you want GIs killing yellow people in the jungle you may as well make a WWII in the Pacific game and if you want helicopters, jets and assault rifles you go modern. Also there's no real parity between the sides so it's harder to justify Charlie flying around in their helicopters.
Still it has a lot of iconic imagery and I think the games that explore it are very interesting.
>where some jumped up asian used shady tactics to try and cripple the american
What is agent orange
What is napalm
If anything americans were the ones using rather shady methods.
Yeak okay Wang, crawl back into that tunnel
fall back in the spike trap for good charlie
ah yes, shady methods like "building roads" and "using tree cover"
There's a ridiculous amount of Vietnam games though, they were right behind WW2 games in terms of popularity before modern war games became number one. You just weren't alive to play them.
>you can't fire me, cause I quit!!
how are all of those brown people treating you over in paris anons?
you tell me, isn't America literally burning itself to the ground because a cop executed another black person?
No we lost. The objective was to maintain a non-communist South Vietnam. That objective was not met. What's important to realize is that the widening Sino-Soviet split basically nullified the logic behind domino theory, so spending blood and treasure, and sacrificing our national image to prop of a fascist-military state in a former french colony we didn't even care about to begin with made a lot less sense.
Rising Storm 2 is the only Vietnam game needed.
goodnight mister Charles
Not him, but its just the L.A. Riots II: Electric Boogalo. Everybody's saying that it's going to be a full-on revolution, but that's not going to happen at all. That would imply that all those scumbag looters and opportunists actually had a plan to resist local government. Don't fall for the hype, this isn't the Confederacy raiding Federal arsenals in preparation for the attack on Fort Sumter. This isn't even John Brown in Harpers Ferry. It's just another freak-out, and everybody will forget about it by July, like they always do.
dat shitty sequel tho...
Nah it's because Vietnam brings up anti-war rhetoric and ZOG doesn't like that.
>scumbag looters
did you mean: literally the cops acting as agent provocateurs
isn't basically every COD from 4 on anti-war
Other way around
Yeah, I noticed that. But I have a feeling that undercover police units in riots as widespread as these may not make much of a difference. The Feds were going to get involved either way, Nat'l Guard, Army, ATF, it was only a matter of time.
