I'm starting to hate online FPS games. I decided to get into Quake because I always wanted to be good at it. I started playing and at first I thought I just sucked or something until I played Quake Champions and discovered that I actually have a 70 percent weapon accuracy rate.

I will be dead ass firing on my opponent, dodging their attacks and just be suddenly killed out of nowhere every single time. It's like the one or two hits they land on me completely drain all of my health and armor. Meanwhile I can be just hammering on them and they never die.

I'll come away from a game with less than 10 kills and my opponents all have like 38. It makes no sense. Most of the time, I'll be gunning someone down, and then another player will just hop through and kill both of us, stealing my kill and killing me in the process.

I'm actually really good at video games and have been playing them for over 20 years. Is there something about FPS I'm just not getting? I'm bunny hopping, dodging, using the best weapons whenever possible. Making sure I have full armor, but it doesn't even matter. The armor might as well not exist because either way I'm dead in 2 hits.

I know exactly what you mean. We're either shit at FPS, or it's hax.

The last game I played I got killed 3 times by enemies who made no sound. I literally couldn't hear their weapons fire. I was just alive and then suddenly dead and "You've been fragged by x"

aiming dont mean shit if you still play like a retard

or the gun the enemy uses is op

Were you trying to get the quad damage a lot? That's a pretty big part of how many kills you'll get. But I got annoyed with QC because of the character abilities, felt like they were obviously unbalanced and fucking the game up.

I've gotten kind of tired of multiplayer FPS games too though. Even when I'm winning it doesn't feel like I'm having fun a lot of the time, and it seems like the games are always unbalanced while the developers just focus on adding more and more unbalanced content on top of it instead of fixing that stuff first.

Maybe you'd enjoy playing something else like a modded Counter-Strike server where people just fuck around to have fun with crazy mods. I was thinking about this recently, I used to play on a 1.6 server that had something called weapon arena where everyone would get the same weapon each round, and it would have low gravity and stuff like that on too. It was pretty fun, nobody took it that seriously but most people still enjoyed it more than the vanilla game sometimes.

Well picking battles and situational awareness in area fps huge, so is placement.

The guys you are fighting are not using OP things, and aren't cheating. That's a weak mindset. They're just better.

FPS is more than just aiming. It sounds like you just pick up a FPS, play it for 40 hours, and quit because you're dogshit.

The people who topfrag are the sweaty faggots who have 2000+ hours. Don't compare yourself to them, just keep playing the game. That's literally all you have to do to get better.

In quake, lower accuracy means you're better at the game. Most pros have about 28% accuracy. Quake isn't about being good at fighting one person face to face, it's about gradually wearing your opponent down while you hoard all the shit thatll give them an advantage.

t. Quake Player.

Quake and arena FPS are the most fair FPS around. They're balanced around the usefulness of each weapon in scenarios and they're always on the map. It's about health management, ammo, precision, and making the best use of each weapon at each given moment. If there's something you're not pulling off is just maybe the positioning, the spatial awareness, or bad judgemnt for which weapon to use in which scenario.

You can aim, you can shoot, but you also have to do it awhile tracking, planning and executing people right.

Counter Strike and such games get these things out of the equation by making the TTK abysmally low. You see first you kill - get spotted you die.

> I actually have a 70 percent weapon accuracy rate
Post final stats screen. Also FFA dm doesn't matter.

This. Tho most of the time you're gonna be railgunning/rl anyways

>Quake and arena FPS are the most fair FPS around

>game decides to spawn me at a position the opponent has already fired a rocket towards
>get hit by a rocket right as I spawn, and finished off with a frag right after
>'fair'

you could do the same to someone after learning the game

Yeah, quakefags love to brag about "no rng" elements", but (un)lucky spawn can be the most crucial thing for winning.

That's beside the point. Do you actually think it's fun to get an unlucky spawn and get spawnfragged almost immediately?

no

Bs

If you park yourself around a corner with the shotgun and click when ever you see someone you'll have a 100% accuracy rate but your kdr is going to suck.

Equal score, mutual frag, you spawn near the place of your fight, pick two weapons right away, you can go to mega/heavy right away.
Enemy spawn on some shitty spot, picks nearest weapon which can be some shitty shotgun/plasma, he can't fight for mega/heavy.

>I decided to get into Quake
you are about two decades late bud

>you are about two decades late bud
Even the Diabotical lead acknowledges as much

better late then never

This happens all the time and doesn't stop good players from winning anyways. Watch some proper 1v1 matches and see how to deal with such situations

I fucking hate the decision to give us heros, achievements a shop and that aweful menu. Im a hardcore Quake fan but they lost me after Quake 1 with that comic and story shit.
Carmack Romero was the magic combo and they never realised this.

Pretty much. The May dev update James shat out pretty much confirmed the game will be dead within 3 months of open beta release, give or take a month.

Spawns aren't rng though. They're predicted by where you died previously, and if there are many players near the other spawns. Typically in duels you'll spawn at the furthest possible distance marked as a spawn (from the time of your death).

Arena shooters are dead for a reason.

cause zoomers dont like to move and shoot at the same time

navigating the fucking menu, no dedicated servers/matchmaking faggotry after each match is what kills it for me

Its called “growing up” user. Stop wasting your time on digital murder simulators and get a real hobby. Or join the army if you think you are so good at it.
