Blinx has the best video game music of all time tho

ww = comfy, cute
tp = grim, tedious

That's like a competition between a guy without legs, and a guy without arms. They're both hampered, weak games that are inherently inferior to every Zelda before them. Koizumi and Miyamoto were critical to why OOT and MM worked.

>calling tp the tedious one
Sailing the sea in WW is the most tedious thing in the entire zelda franchise, which is also coupled with horseshit padding like the triforce hunt to make up for cut content

>tedious
wow
just wow
WOW

TP = soulless but good game
WW = soulful but shit game

Well it is. Plenty of irritating sections like the bug hunt, the horribly long tutorial esque intro, forced dog sections etc. However, that poster seemed to imply WW isn't, which is absolutely wrong. It's tedious in different ways.

TP shuttles you off to epic set pieces one after the other, the bugs are no more tedious than skulltulas
saying it seems to imply you dislike Zelda, each game in the series is amazing
Tp is just moreso than Ww

Imagine what could be the cut third dungeon.

god WW coulda been so much better
Tower of the Gods could have been a repeat later in the game

there are at least 3 cut dungeons in WW, the third pearl and two after markar and medli's dungeons

TP's horshit stops at some point, WW's never lets up even after teleportation

>Epic set pieces
That have really boring gameplay, where NPCs constantly take away your freedom from just playing.

>no more tedious than skulltulas
You're ignoring that skulltulas are completely optional, and don't halt the game's pacing. Like, TP completely stops so many times before you can progress. The dog sections and the forced mini games esspecially. Like so much of TP, you're halted and have to do bullshit before you can keep moving. It's so railroaded. I will admit it gets better towards the end, and unlike WW, TP actually has memorable dungeons that don't feel like blank assets.

>You dislike Zelda
I love good Zelda games; LTTP, OoS/A, OOT and MM. All these games had vastly better pacing, and while you could be roadblocked it's because you lacked an item to move forward. You weren't forced to listen and do tedious things for NPCs.

MM occasionally crosses the line, but the benefit of MM is that the Deku section can be done in 15 minutes then you have full control of link. Almost every other quest is short, not does it say "you can't go there!! You have to do this!!".

TP has stuff like this constantly throughout the game. The opening is esspecially painful. It never allows you to organically explore an area, uncover a dungeon on your own and start doing the shit needed to get it started and done. In TP, the NPCs push you around constantly for boring cutscenes and dialog that doesn't matter.

I can agree with this. WW has so many awkard decisions that make no sense. For example, shortly after getting the sword you lose it. What's the point? Why not make the stealth section happen before you get the sword? Why force a stealth section at all into a game where it doesn't really work as a mechanic? The best part of WW in recent memory is Hyrule Castle, where in hero mode in the HD version I had to guerilla my shit around to kill all the Knights, partially emphasized because I didn't pick up any heart containers.

Imagine
>Wind Waker
>but on populated land instead of a giant empty fucking sea

that's essentially what BotW is, it took all of WW's trash and made it functional

Or at least a more active and engaging sea. Hell most of the sea is flat as hell and sailing is braindead.

>goat wrasslan
>sumo wrestlan

>shortstack imp moanan
>horseback swordfightan

>spidermannan

TP is the Zelda for chads.

BotW is very sparsely populated, full Castle Town and all village ruins rebuilt in BotW2?

>BotW is very sparsely populated
you can say the same about WW. Actually WW is even more sparse

sailing and small islands is peak comfiness for me

Banger incoming

youtube.com/watch?v=M3CSWLFL5u8

maybe it wouldn't be so bad if most of those small islands had actual content instead of horseshit like copy pasted enemy gauntlets

>Epic set pieces
>That have really boring gameplay
dude, sod off

>You're ignoring that skulltulas are completely optional
you are avoiding the fact so are bugs

TP is the second worse 3D zelda of the main series right behind skyward. Tries too hard to be OOT, has zant one of the lamest villains in the main games, has a long as fuck tutorial and is pointlessly edgy because Nintendo caved to critics.

we would have been able to explore sunken Hyrule like another overworld
that got cut

I would love a focus on diving to different locations in underwater Hyrule, maybe using timeshift stones to explore a populated past kingdom, maybe as a young link-old link dynamic

desu that was my first zelda 3D

"your opinion is now invalid" pls no

Twilight Princess was mediocre. It had some promising elements, but it was also the dawn of nu-Zelda, and things were taking a turn for the worse.

Another thing, is that while MM makes you do shit before dungeons they -mostly- are extensions of normal gameplay. It's stuff like the Deku Palace, Ikana Castle, the Pirate Fortress are some examples. The worst parts of MM were things like getting the underwater eggs because they stray from the regular airtight gameplay. I feel as though WW and TP double down on sections like this, instead of giving us pre-dugeon locations that act much like the temples themselves. The theives fortress in OOT isn't that tedious because it's a dungeon, just with it's own gimmick. It doesn't force you to do anything stupid. A TP styled version of the thieves fortress would involve you dragging along an NPC who only lets you go into certain areas, where you'd have to listen to them talk over and over before collecting things and going back before listening to more talking.

Apparently during TP's development, there was a time this wasn't the case. The whole game was overhauled, and many of the minigames and optional sections were integrates into the main game to make the game more "epic" and "longer". This was an enormous crime imo, as it severely hurt the game's pacing.

I'm not talking about collecting bugs for the qt3.14, in talking about the parts where you have to play as the dogs and kill the bugs or whatever they were. You have to do this over and over again.

Nah, as good Zelda games were confident with what gameplay they had and didn't resport to that shit. Set pieces are the worst shit in videogames, esspecially games like Zelda. They come down to being borderline minigames that again, completely halt the flow of the game.

Yeah, we can tell. TP and WW fans are the archetypical GC babbies who talk about "feelings" and "comfy" in place of decent game design. I liked the islands as well, but many aspects of the rest of the game doesn't hold up. There's barely any worthwhile content across these Islands; no new weapons, no usable items, no cool upgrades.

>it was also the dawn of nu-Zelda
nope it is actually low key Majora's Mask
all four Zelda before it were focused on the key staples of Zelda and unique ways to reiterate it
MM led into WW where it just kept getting more experimental
