imagine the tris

Don't know but this particular example is meant more for movies, I doubt that simulation was done live, probably took time to calculate.

Yeah, they're all done offline on a i7-9700k. The meat example took 19.30 seconds per frame

I fucking hate the mouth breathing autists that show up in vfx tech videos being all "wooooah vidyea gayms are gonna look so good with this soon!"

Isn't it weird how people keep expecting games to look better, but not for there to be more to do in them.

If they made a Ocarina of Time today, looking like it did back then, they could cram much more stuff into the game. But people don't want a game that looks like that, they want graphics that are "current gen" and then there is just the same amount of stuff to do.

ftfy

SSDs can do like a gorrillion triangles according to marketingspeak, right? So surely a few million particles isn't gonna hurt them?

Its all just dynamic subsurf tessellation.
Which makes it expensive, but not highly tessellated on the original mesh.

As fucking if vidya food needed to look any more appealing.

>Is there any gameplay benefit to improving physics in vidya?
mp3 did it and i play it just for how good it feels to shoot someone and them reacting to being shot realistically.
just makes the game feel better in general.
give a red faction game with this shit and ill pay .

This shit looks uncanny

i feel sick

Wtf is this real???

>Tits physics
>Cum dripping physics
>Sweat physics
>Scat physics done
>Bodily hair physics
>Pussy physics

read Sage

Not for traditional games but fiddling with this shit in VR would be godly. You need precise finger control to enjoy physics like this, just shooting at shit isn't interactive enough

Why do I find this so horrifying?

uncanny valley

Because you self insert as the meat

Fun, mostly

If my meat ever behaved like this I wouldn't eat it.

Allows to make more complex system design. Like damage based on simulation rather than subtracting numbers from the spreadsheet.

i mean yeah.. ? skate 3

Nobody cares because you won't actually be able to tell, autismo.

On this topic, are there any game with legitimate lifelike hitboxes? i.e. not necessarily based on damage but where the npc was hit, realistic damage if hit in the leg, can't die from being shot in the foot repeatedly etc

dwarf fortress

you're so dumb you can't even put what you mean into words properly.

hl alyx does some great things with physics

Some mods for ARMA have decent damage simulation. Even going as far as simulating levels of various fluids in vascular system.

>get hit with a tank round
>have a few bandages put on
>good as new
i know its not all like this but still lmao

>hl alyx does some great things with physics
Like what? I only saw fake fluid shaders.

You will be able to tell difference because it will produce significantly different results.

Rip Jello T-rex.
Killed by Portal turret

I mean, I guess its not advanced physics, but the whole level where you had to sneak around Jeff had hundreds of intractable physics objects, which probably took a ton of work to optimize.

Why don't they just emulate the ps5 hardware through the SSD if it is so powerful?
